Just wondering how this laptop would perform running Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign? I'm after a portable laptop I can use for basic graphics production.
I'm considering specs:
i5 7300
16 GB RAM
512 GB SSD
Typically I would have a few files open at once with a lot of layers in each file. I'd want to be moving between files and between programs without seeing any slowdown.
Would the X1 Carbon G5 be perform well under that kind of work load?
I wouldn't be doing any 3D or Video editing / rendering and I wouldn't be using it for gaming.
Thanks.

With a single file - it will likely be fluent. With 3-4 - you may notice a bit of hitching. The i5 7300U is a dual-core CPU. But quad-core laptops are larger and have much less battery life while also being expensive.

Yes I was looking at the Lenovo T470p as a comparison. That model has an Intel HQ cpu (quad core). So it would be more powerful, but I think I would sacrifice too much in portability and battery life.

Well - you have to choose really - battery or power - can't have both

As has been suggested, your options are 2.5 pounds with muted performance or four pounds with improved processing power. You should probably figure out what's more important to you and go from there.
