Thanks.
I also had the same problem, installed the new version, hope it will help.

I also had bluetooth issues that were resolved with the latest drivers.

since the (now old) X1 carbon refresh had its details leaking around this time, any info we can steal on the next iteration?
I decided not to dabble and test the waters with this version purely for the touch strip at the top. -
I had the same thought so I looked at the first page and found the first post was on Oct. 18, 2013 so I hope we'll hear something about the next iteration around the same time this year.

Anyone else having problems with screen burn in?
I have some pretty bad burn ins on windows taskbar and IE window.
Touch version. -

Really early rumours are suggesting that the next update would just be incremental to accommodate the broadwell chips, with the rare possibility of it being discontinued
I hope this isn't the case as Lenovo has the ability to really compete in the ultrabook market. Its dead simple for many of us - get rid of the strip or at least have it additional to the function row, improve and increase battery capacity and life, have a killer trackpad and some of us can still accept the keyboard layout.
Come on Lenovo are you seeing this? -

There will be a X1 Carbon 3rd gen: ThinkPad X1 Carbon (3rd Gen) > Lenovo Quick Pick
-
After waiting months for Dell to fix the coil whine on 9530, I final gave up. This X1 carbon looks nice and I think I should trust Lenovo's quality this time.
But why is it selling at 2147 euros here for i7 4600u, 8GB memory and 256GB SSD M.2? That''s just insane.
Is there some coupon I don't know? Does amazon or some other place sell X1 carbon installed with DOS so that I can save a few hundred bucks? -
Anyone around here running 2 external monitors out of an X1C? I'm trying to find a laptop that will hook up to my 2 Dell U2412M monitors via DisplayPort. I hear you can run 2 monitors off of one DisplayPort connection if the computer supports Multi Stream Technology (MST). Does the X1C have this and does anyone use it?
-
Is anyone suffering nasty screen burn-ins on the x1ct?
Just noticed it when logging into a 2012 server, as the desktop background is gray/black. I can distinctly see the Outlook pattern on top, scroller on the side.
So far my issues with this laptop: Wifi issues, fried MoBo, now screen burn-in. -
Oops, I must be terrible at search.
Yeah it is going away after a couple minutes. Touch here. Is this just the way the laptop is or is it getting worse with time?
Despite all the issues I do like the laptop. Wish issues would stop popping up, would really like this laptop to last... -
Mine had screen burn in from the beginning...did not seem to get worse, just the same over time.

Hey guys,
I am looking to exchange my Asus UX303ln because of the yellow color issue of the screen. I am curious to know if the 14.0 WQHD (2560x1440) 300nit IPS WWAN (NON TOUCH) has any advantages over the touch, being maybe less "glossy" and higher luminance (300 vs 270nit).
Any issue when it comes to color reproduction ?
Thanks for letting me know -
ibmthink or anyone else is there anymore information on the 3rd gen X1 Carbon?
-
Hopefully they'll lose the adaptive strip.
The track point buttons are coming back

Hi guys. May I know whether I can set a custom charge level for the battery for this X1 Carbon 2014 Haswell edition running on Windows 8.1 Pro? Say I want it to start charging at 30% and stops at 90%.
-
I've been eyeing the X1 Carbon for a long time, almost bought one during Black Friday week, but I really wanted the 1440p screen and touchscreen, so I decided to wait for it to show up on the Outlet. Got lucky and found one Dec 19 for $768.86 before taxes, refurb unit.
1440p, touchscreen, i5-4200u, 128GB M2, 4GB RAM.
The X1C looks brand new. Only thing missing is the ethernet dongle.
I can live with the crappy RAM and SSD size for that price. I set up 4 of these at my work brand new at $1,999, hahaha.
Thinking of upgrading the SSD one day, but that's going to cost, and the weird slot the X1 uses, not a true M2 slot. After installing all Office and Windows 8.1 updates, only 60GB free is sucky. -
http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-512GB...id=1419833127&sr=1-1&keywords=crucial+ssd+m.2
No problem at all.
Why do you say it's not a true M2 slot?
The first gen had a different slot, but the 2nd gen is a common one. -
-
Quick question friends,
Say I buy an X1 Carbon with 4gb and 128 gb ssd.... what is the maximum RAM and SSD I can upgrade to?
You can't add a 512gb ssd to the 128, correct? It replaces the 128? Or is there a PCI slot where you can add more storage space?
Thanks very much! -
You cannot add SSD, only replace with a new one. It must be M.2 SATA. -
-
Please don't buy this awful laptop!! You'll be dissapointed.

I'm using one now--a borrowed one, as I'm having some problems with my main machine. I absolutely love it. The machine I'm using is an I5-4200/4GB, 128GB, WQHD screen (non-touch), purchased new on the Black Friday sale. So, the build is fairly recent (Dec. 14). My general thoughts:
-screen is perfect, no dead pixels, no ghosting at all, and it's amazing
-performance is good even with the low spec. It's not what I'd buy, but even running some data-heavy applications it does OK, no throttling including on battery only
-it runs cool, and fan noise is minimal
Now, for the part that I'm sure will make some folks' heads explode:
-keyboard: I love the keyboard. Yes, home/end are in a different place, but frankly they're way more useable now. After 2-3 days I found myself using them much more frequently, and since I work mostly from web-based apps, this is really useful to me. Frankly, this is way more useful to me than caps lock, with is still readily accessible. I think this is a better layout, and I'm a bit disappointed they went away from it. I realize, change is hard for some people... My only qualm is that the backspace key is a bit small, but I got used to it after a couple of days.
-trackpoint: I use the trackpoint about 80% of the time, touchpad the rest. I've been using the trackpoint since the mid/late 90's, so I'm certainly used to separate buttons. I actually prefer the integrated buttons on the whole. I've used this before on a Helix, and it wasn't nearly as nice as the one on the X1. Part of it may be my particular machine, or maybe they've improved the drivers. Either way, the middle button for scrolling now works flawlessly, and the left and right clicks, drag and drop etc all work great. I'm able to go between the X230 trackpoint and this one with no issues.
-trackpad: by far the best trackpad I've used on a Thinkpad. I like the fact that it's not hinged, and the one on this unit is quiet, throw is short with good tactile feedback--and not too noisy (my trackpoint buttons on my X230 are actually noisier).
-adaptive strip: nice idea, implementation isn't quite there. Being able to customize the options within each mode would have gone a long away; but, it's not a deal-breaker for me.
Thinks I don't like:
-printscreen key missing: I liked the screen grab option in Windows 8. The snipping tool works, but it's more work.
-battery life: with the WQHD screen on high, I'm getting about 4 hours with basic web-based work. With the brightness reduced, it's too dim.
If it weren't for the promise of better battery life on the Broadwell version, I'd buy one of these right now, particularly given the price difference between this and the Broadwell. Personally I consider the reversion to the old keyboard/trackpad a step back. I'll probably go with the Gen3 just on the hopes of better battery life, but besides that caveat I think this is a great machine. -
I ordered an i5 wqhd broadwell.. want the best battery life possible. Will post about it when it comes in!
-
-
I don't use the trackpoint at all so I cannot talk about it.
I agree re adaptive strip, I've got used to it but we should be able to customize it more.
I agree re home/end. I really don't use caps lock.
No problem with backspace for me.
I really like the PgUp/PgDn location, much better than back/forward I have in my previous T420.
Print Screen - I think FN + T will do the work for you. Just Google it and you will find more. Anyway, Snipping tool is much better. You also have built-in tool inside MS Office.
Battery - I'm don't have more than 4 hours without power so I cannot comment on this. -
Hi X1 guys,
What is the real world (mixed usage, no heavy video editing) battery life of X1 carbon? Can you get 6-7 hrs of usage with 90% brightness level?
Thanks guys... -
One nice thing though is that it really does charge fast, so at least there's that going for it.
I think some of the machines w/the TN panel may be a little better on battery--not sure though. -
I have a TN panel non WQHD - the battery seems to last forever. It really is that good!!
-
I'm trying to create a bootable USB with ISO file, but for some reason it doesn't work.
After boot I press ENTER and then F12 to change boot order.
I have an option of USB HDD, but when I choose it nothing happen.
I assume I should get an option of USB CD instead.
I tried 3 different apps to create the USB.
Could it be some kind of security option in the BIOS?
Any other ideas? -
Can anyone help me to turn off display dimming everytime i change the active window on the screen,i have disable in windows adaptive brigtness but it is happening again! i know its into intel hd graphics settings but i cant find it a whole day

I think there was an update from Lenovo few months ago that fixed this bug.
Try to look for it in Lenovo's System Update. -
