X1 Carbon Gen4 trackpoint cap CANNOT BE REPLACED / BOUGHT

Sorry for caps, but this time they are really bonkers.

So I wanted to replace the red trackpoint cap for my X1 Gen4.

I check amazon, their webpage and find none that is low profile with the right square inside to fit.

I call online shop, they tell me to call technical support.

I call technical support...

They first tell me to go through the FRU list, but there is no cap listed in there.

I call again, they tell me, aah, yes, the newest Carbon:

YOU HAVE TO BUY THE GODDAMN WHOLE KEYBOARD!!!!!!!!!

Are they crazy!??!!

Of course you can replace them without changing the whole keyboard

I don't know how you found this....

After some searching with the "finally" correct part nr, here are the UK and DE links to order them, in case somebody else ever looks for them as search won't return the caps. Their search indices seem screwed (like their telephone support). I tried caps, trackpoint,...and always got the old ones. Plus them telling me you cannot even order them through their shop. Thrice. Grrr.

I think the issue may be that these caps were released a few months after the new models. So for a few months the statement "there are no replacement caps" was actually true. Thats also why they are not in the parts list.
