I'm a long time Thinkpad owner, and I've had an X1 Carbon for a few weeks. In everyday use, the trackpoint feels different to me than the trackpoint on my W520. I can't put my finger on what's different but I just can't get comfortable with it. Has anyone else had this experience? Did they change the trackpoint at all with the new keyboard, or is it probably just an issue specific to my machine?

I think the trackpoint in the new keyboards is set slightly lower than the old ones.

Yeah, that's definitely true -- it's more sunken than in the traditional thinkpad keyboard. But the issue I'm having is more in the actual use of the trackpoint itself -- it feels like the mapping from applying pressure to the cursor movement has changed somehow, and no matter how I adjust the sensitivity I can't get it right. Sometimes it feels asymetric (easier to go right than left), no matter what I do I seem to either overshoot or undershoot. Nobody else seems to be complaining about this, so I'm guessing it's not a systematic issue.

the trackpoint nib is lower, but not as low as the original X1. Only a true Trackpoint user would know the subtle differences or able to pick it up, well done!
