    Currently have the i7 4600u model but the 8gb soldered ram limits my work with virtual machines. What are my WQHD QHD 3k+ ultrabook options with 16gb+ ram options. I've made my peace with the new keyboards and touchpads, as long as I have a high resolution and lots of ram I can do my work, even 1 ram with soldered ram is ok as the 16gb sodimms are out.

    X1 Carbon 3rd Generation with 16 GB of RAM is soon to be released.

    In the meantime, there is the T450s, which can take up to 20 GB of RAM - but is only available with FHD IPS, not QHD.

    As an alternative: You could wait for Skylake, where your options are likely to expand...
