    https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/thinkpad/thinkpad-x/X1-Extreme-Gen-2/p/22TP2TXX1E2

    One surprise
    • 15.6" FHD (1920 x 1080, 300 nits) IPS, anti-glare
    • 15.6" FHD HDR 400 (1920 x 1080, 500 nits) IPS, anti-glare
    • 15.6" 4K HDR 400 (3840 x 2160, 500 nits) IPS, anti-glare
    • 15.6" 4K OLED (3840 x 2160) IPS, multi-touch*
I didn’t expect that we are going to see FHD HDR. Previously, only UHD or WQHD got to have HDR. I would probably choose the FHD HDR as it makes no sense to have 4K resolution in a 15.6" screen.

    OHHHHH .... Tickle my tassels!!!!!

Would have rather a 1440P a screen. However, at least a higher end option is available outside of OLED.

    Hopefully PWM free!!!! :)

I am really eying that 1080p 500 nit display! Even HDR certified for extra epic content viewing. Hopefully, the thermals can keep up with i9. I also that a future low power FHD display becomes a thing, cause that could totally make up for one of the X1 Extremes weaknesses, low battery capacity

    • 9th Generation Intel® Core i9-9880H with vPro (2.30GHz, up to 4.80GHz with Turbo Boost, 8 Cores, 16MB Cache)*
      *Coming Soon
How are they going to be able to slap an 8 cores cpu without melting a sub 4 pounds chassis? Or would the CPU have to be throttled down below the base clock speed in order to prevent overheating?

24W more needed for CPU. 15W less needed for GPU. Averages out to about an extra 9W of cooling needed to run at full speed. I think they can make it work with more agressive fans.

Of course we can always undervolt and use better paste. All things considered, it seems good

Eagerly awaiting this release since the biggest reason I got rid of my X1E was the terrible screen...

The 1080p one? Apparently this time around we get high gamut bright screens with HDR... So that is nice!

Yeah the 1080P screen was terrible compared to the XPS screen. I'm excited to see how the new screens look.

It's July and the Gen2 is not available for purchase yet. I chatted with the sales rep, who told me that it's going to take 3-4 weeks more.
There's a good discount going on with the Gen1 right now, I guess they are trying to dispose off old stocks before they launch the new model.

Most likely the case. The old ones are at some of the lowest prices that I’ve seen and they will probably hold off the new ones until they get rid of their existing stocks

    Well, it's orderable now.
But the customization option isn't open yet. ‍♂️

What the hell is wrong with the new price?
Price on July 17th vs July 26th
    1080p model $2049 went up to $2939

The lower price was not even on sale. It’s a regular price.

    https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/thinkpad/thinkpad-x/X1-Extreme-Gen-2/p/22TP2TXX1E2

And the 4K, 32 GB option is more than 4000 dollars
    That’s more expensive than
Top of the line Alienware Area 51m with 2080 RTX card

Appeared one i5 + FHD for $2459 and this is still expensive. It has to go down below the $2K barrier.
Still no news on the UK site.

Classic sales tactic (which is illegal in some countries if not done correctly). They jack up prices to a ridiculous amount then "discount" so you think you are getting a good deal

Hi guys. Does anybody knows if the screen of this Laptop can be installed on a T590?
Or maybe the screen of the P52, X1 extreme, they have displays with rich color gamut.

T590 screen: FHD, 30 pin, matte

    Thank you.

There's an option to add only one SSD drive, is it expandable, and what are the slots?

There are two PCIE NVMe slots for two drives.

    Still no reviews??
