So I noticed they are finally allowing configuration. The model without touch is at $1299 base. The model with the WQHD+ touch screen is $1399 with otherwise identical specs.

However, if you configure the non touch to have a non touch WOHD+ screen the additional cost is $150. Which makes it more expensive than the touch model.

According to Tabook.pdf the weight of the non touch WQHD+ is about a third of a pound lighter than the touch version. In fact it is even lighter than the 1600x900 version. For those of us who bought the "s" version of X series Thinkpads the non touch WQHD+ model most closely fits the bill. Possibly this is the reason for the extra $50 charge?

the cost difference is probably due to production volume. Maybe most people whom buys the new X1 Carbon buys them with Touch Screen, as such due to the higher volume and lower cost principle, they become cheaper than the non-touch version.
