You can pick up an X100e refurbished for around £250 here (only in red though :( ) or some Ex-demo stock/returns for around £300-£350.
Unfortunately the X120e did not make it out of the US (which would be perfect)
For general day to day work (internet / emails) i guess the X100e would be sufficient, not a fan of netbooks as my gf has a HP Mini and its really slow, keyboard is rubbish and glossy screen.
Am i likely to get anything better for around £300.

That is a hard question, but you may get something cheaper from ebay, etc. Is the X100e you are talking about has single core or dual core AMD CPU?

The Ex-demo/return stock ones are from eBay. Both are the single core AMD Neo rather than the NeoII.
There does not seem to be much about, that has a great keyboard, non glossy screen and good build quality. The X120e would be ideal but not available and no where has any new stock of the X100e left.
Would go for the £250 one (and its from a large retailer) but its red, probably why its cheap.

The single-core X100e is rather slow, so make sure you know what you're getting into before you buy. Also, the X100e is known for running very hot. If it is available, the HP dm1z may be a better option than the X100e, as it offers the latest Fusion platform at a (usually) slightly lower price than the X120e.

If its a single core I would hold off.

I have a single core x100e, it ran like crap when I first got it, after installing Win7 and 4GB ram it runs quite well for what it is. I use it mainly for work emails and excel/word stuff. Seems to run a bit on the warm side but I can live with that.

I would save up for a refurbished one. The processor is soldered onto the motherboard so it if is slow, there is no upgrading it. Also see if you can try to use one before you buy.

You could also look at the Elitebook 2530p ultraportable.

Cheers, found a Neo X2 model for just over £500. I asked on the other thread, but if i bought an X120e from the US, how would the warranty work? Would it be valid or have to go back to the US with any problems?
Tempting as it could be a lot cheaper (inc VAT and import duty) but would a UK X100e PSU work with a US X120e?
