I am thinking about the X100e dual core version. The solo version of X100e gets only average reviews, mainly due to bettery life and performance. And it seems the new dual core version will fix both.

I haven't seen any review of it yet. Do you think this is worth looking at? I need a portable computer for school.

I have one of these and its a decent computer for the price...If you can afford it I would go for an outlet x200 though.

If it were me, I'd be looking at the X200 in the outlet unless you're on a really tight budget. My X200 looked new to me. The only downside to the outlet is you can't upgrade the warranty if you were planning to do so. As always with AMD you're looking at more heat and less battery life.

Jury is still out on the battery life numbers on the dual core CPU. I concur that given the premium for the dual core version the x200 is a much nicer machine to take a look at. Unless you just really want a even smaller laptop.

The X200 surely is a superior laptop in just about every way. But when I can get X100 dual via third party retailer, X100 would cost around half as much as X200 at Lenovo outlet after discount and tax.

    You can get dual-core X100e for $350 pre-tax?

I would go for the x201i for around $850

Or rather, X200 cost close to $900 after tax

I've got the Acer Ferrari One and the battery capacity is roughly twice of the x100e. I am fairly confident mine would more than half day and leave the power cord behind. With x100e, you could be looking at a class and a bit more.

Not sure what your budget is and what the essential features are. If hardware hardware virtualization isn't what you need, you could consider Intel SU4100/SU2300 (dual core). I do want virtualization, so I was considering Asus UL20/30 with SU7300, the ThinkEdge and the x100e. I suppose I can throw MSI U230 into the mix now.

If I had to buy one today, it would be x100e if it comes with a much bigger battery. It may be heavier but the marginal weight is insignificant when you are carrying a few books.

You can get them for much less in the outlet/ebay.

The SU2300 does have virtualization, but it doesn't really matter either way. Programs like Virtual Box do not require it to work.

IMO the AMD processors should only be considered if for some reason you have extreme budget restriction or a high desire to play games. The SU2300 is roughly the same performance as the dual core Neo and has better battery life, and most of the time, for an equal price.
