I was wondering if a 100e WITh the dual core would work for me. I un dertsand that the x201 is a lot more powerfull with a lot more bells.

My needs are watching netflix movies, web surfing, light word processing.
Would I miss the power of the X201?

    Thx

The X100e should be sufficient for your needs. The dual core Turion X2 processor and the integrated Radeon 3200 graphics should handle 1080p content with no problems. Do note, however, that the X201's battery life is longer than the X100e's, if that's important to you.

The x100e is good for nearly 5 hours of light use.

If you're gonna be watching these movies on your lap, watching Netflix is really gonna be uncomfortable with the heat from the AMD processor.

Also don't forget the size difference, the x100e is actually substantially smaller even though the screen is only slightly smaller.

For what it is the price of the X100e is a total ripoff. Lenovo must be really out of his mind - I watched it for a while then I decided against it, it's just a ripoff, pure and simple, it's still a fancy netbook after all, nothing comparable to my x201, period.

I agree about it being just another netbook machine, they just slapped ThinkPad logo on it and expect people to pay premium.
Features and user experience (hot laptop with low battery life) is what lags behind ThinkPad name in this laptop IMO.
Never owned one tho, but dont see myself getting one either, given the low specs it has and low endurance for such comparably high price.
Now lets hope that new AMD platform finds home in 11.6" ThinkPad/s and gets price reduction as well, then I might consider getting one of these, if their performance is on par or exceeding Intel CULV chips :D

X201 costs $900+ (even from the outlet)
X100e from lenovo outlet costs $350+

I paid $482 for my L625 with 4GB of ram, Windows 7 Pro x64, blue-tooth, 6 Cell (17+) battery and, 1 year warranty. which left me enough money to get my girlfriend a brand new Edge 14 which was only $411 shipped and pick up myself a USB DVD drive for $50.

At the time I purchased the x100e the cheapest X201 was well over $1000+

That makes the x100e one hell of netbook.
    a. 4GB ram.
    b. L625 Dual Core (841 passmark score which is only half that of the x201 but still powerful enough for me).
    c. ATI 3200 Mobility GPU > GMA4500 in the x201.
    d. ATI 3200 supports maya, photoshop, unity 3d with no problems.
    e. 1366x768 resolution.
    f. one of the best keyboards in the industry, period. (and spillproof)
    g. matte display that folds back nearly 180*.
    h. low light webcam.
    i. 4-5 hours battery life easily due to the 17+ battery.
    j. Card Reader.
    k. 1x Powered USB.

And as far as I can tell the X201 doesn't have a wacom digitizer so that makes the touchscreen version pointless for me as well. Besides, my Bamboo fits in my backpack just like my x100e with no problems. I even picked up a zeroshock case for me and a nice case for her and still didn't break $1000

As for other issues/lies that get spread about laptops that foum users have agendas over the X100e does not over heat or run very hot. The issue is that Lenovo ships the X100e with the cooling set to passive which is solved by setting it to active and does not effect battery life. Other things like updating the ATI drivers and setting the CPU speed to adaptive, which also doesn't seem to effect battery life at all, make the x100e way better than any netbook I've ever seen or used.

The x100e is excellent for school for all the reasons stated above and the keyboard and system is extremely quiet which makes it perfect for school so I'm not disturbing the rest of the class with a plastic clickity clack keyboard or a fan that sounds like a helicopter

I would wait for January when AMD releases the Fusion architecture that will most likely be put into the x100e. A lot better battery life, better performance, and it runs cooler. It's win win all around.

The dual core AMD versions are a practical performance tie with Intel CULVs (su7300, su4100) but trade better graphics for worse battery life.

Getting one for sub $500 is a good deal but a x100e direct from Lenovo is still an average/bad deal compared to a x201i.

The x201 tablet comes with a wacom digitizer...don't know why you would assume otherwise. But it is 3 times the price so it's not really a competitor.
