I have an X120e and have noticed that the SD card slot on the right side must have some sort of bad or intermittent connection. Anytime an SD card is inserted it will cycle continuously between recognizing the card and then saying the card is not entered. This is usually accompanied in Windows 7 by the constant beep sound that indicated a card inserted and removed. I have tried multiple cards and have never got one to be continually recognized by the computer as being inserted. I'm sure it is a matter with the connection because if I ever apply upwards pressure to the outboard edge of an inserted SD card the computer will continue to recognize it but only for as long as I'm applying that force which pushes the contacts on the SD card into the slot.

Has anyone else had this issue? I'm assuming it will have to be sent back to Lenovo for repair. According to the Lenovo System Toolbox application the computer has 182 days left on the warranty. However, I did not buy the computer new but instead purchased it used from another member on this forum. Would this present any issue to having Lenovo repair the problem under the warranty?

Another unrelated issue I have noticed since I got the X120e deals with the screen brightness. There are many situations where without touching any setting the screen brightness will dim significantly, while displaying a certain image or webpage on the screen, then fade back to normal brightness once that one image or webpage is no longer displayed. I've tried playing with different power and display settings but does not seem to have an effect. It seems strange to me that this only happens every so often with certain images that are displayed or even certain browser tabs open to a certain page. The only commonality I can find is that usually this happens when the image or page is comprised mostly of a dark background. In order to fix the dimmed condition I need to apply a few steps with the brightness controls to compensate, but then immediately upon switching from that image or page it fades brighter again and now is much brighter as I have applied the additional steps of brightness. This has become a very annoying problem which I am clueless about the cause. Any information of what could be causing this?

I'm assuming all of your drivers are up to date? Other than that, I can't suggest anything else.

Lenovo warranties go with the machine and not by the person so you're all good on that. If you do choose to send it to repair, be descriptive on what is wrong. I once sent my x100e in for a "CPU" whine and I got it back with a new fan....

    Good luck!

Open up the "AMD Vision Engine Control Center" from the Start Menu and under the "Power" item in the main page, click "PowerPlay." Uncheck "Enable Vari-Bright." That should fix this issue--you'll need to change it again every time you upgrade the AMD graphics driver.

As for the SD slot, yes, you'll likely have to send it in for warranty service. The warranty is tied to the machine, as AboutThreeFitty mentioned.
