    Hi guys,

just wondering, i've been seeing lots of crazy long shipping times for the x120e. Is there an express option which i can pick? i'd like to buy direct from lenovo so i can choose warranty type and configuration etc, but i'm only going to be in the US for 2 and a half weeks, so if it takes a long time i'll miss it.

should i go with ebay instead??

    cheers

You can always upgrade the warranty later if you want.

I think they can vary a bit. When I got my X200 last year it took over a month to get it. I had to reach out to Lenovo to get the order completed. At the time Lenovo was offering a 20% coupon and things got a little crazy over there. $600 for a X200 directly from Lenovo hadn't been seen before. Other items I've ordered from them came promptly. I take it you coming from overseas to buy this? If so, you'll need a way to pay for it and somewhere to ship it to. I'd also mention Outlet machines have no IWS.

actually my friend is picking it up for me as he is visiting, i have a colleague who has an american credit card that can be used. i dont mind not having the warranty too much as both the x120e and x201 cost twice the amount outside the states. short of a motherboard failure or a screen failure, other repairs wont be that expensive.

how long does it take them to ship outlet machines?

i take it that ordering from the lenovo CTO site is definitely not an option due to long delivery time?

I ordered an x120e on 3/9. I was given a shipment date of 3/21 originally. About a week after, the shipment date was deleted from the site so I called and they gave me a shipment date of 3/18. It is now 3/20, my credit card still has not been charged and the website still shows no shipment date.

I'm pretty much convinced that my order has been canceled or that something has definitely gone wrong.

I purchased on 3/5 and original est ship date was 3/17. Last week my ship time was all deleted. Then later it was moved back to 3/29. So I called them sometime near my original ship date and they said the new ship day was 3/18. All I did was discuss with the sales rep what happened and they were nice enough to look into it and even call me back at the end of the day. As of today, it looks like I will be receiving the product on Monday. It shipped out of China on Saturday, or Friday night Hawaii time. You gotta remember when dealing with these companies that they are assembled in China. There is a time difference of +19hours hawaiian time so they are a day ahead of us. So calling or emailing them may not get to the source till the next day or after the weekend. Be nice and as undemmanding as possible. just state the facts and I'm sure they will look into the situation. I must say though, my experience with Lenovo was much better than one I had with Sony some years back. They had me on hold for more than 8 hours when I was trying to get a replacement for some proprietary headphones I got from Japan.

if i put a shipping address that is different from the billing address in the outlet, it says that the shipping address must be also registered with the credit card....

do they enforce this? or is it just to avoid the bank blocking the transaction because in case it is fraudulent?

Like I said, I think it can vary a bit. It may come in time. It may not. Given the narrow window you have, a pre-configured model or eBay seems like a better option.

oh sorry, i thought you were referring to the CTO option. I guess you're right, ebay is probably the safest route as the sellers have the unit on hand.

thanks for all the help. i think i might just go with a x201 from ebay. the HDMI on the X120e is a nice-to-have but the x201 has many other features that make up for that.

this is what comes up under the warranty for the x201 i want to buy from ebay when i look it up on the lenovo site:

    Description:
This product has a three year limited warranty and is entitled to EZServ/Depot service. Customers may call their local service center for more information. Dealers may provide carry-in repair for this product. Batteries have a one year

What is EZServ? Does it have the IWS? Any idea how much it would cost to upgrade it to an international warranty if not? cheers

EZServ is the depot warranty. There's a link in the sticky that can tell you what the IWS status is by plugging in the machine type.

I used Amazon checkout and didn't need a US credit card. Plus there was a 10% discount coupon for using Amazon checkout.

amazon checkout for the outlet or the main lenovo site?

anyway i just purchased the X201, i5 540, 4gb, win7pro64, 320gb hdd, fp reader, bluetooth,6 cell, cam, all the usual refinements for 750 including shipping. has 2 years 3 months left on the warranty so im happy :)

    it was between a new x120e and a outlet/used X201.
