I bet you two thinkpads the core i3 version wont come to the states.
-
I am going to guess what the number three stands for in x130e.
13.1'' or 13.3'' screen anyone? -
maybe 12.5 inch? But if Lenovo is going to use 13 inch LCD, then they would effectively competing against many of their already existing models.
-
True. I wonder if this will get a thinklight this time.
-
I'm pretty sure its going to have an 11 inch screen
The current Thinkpad naming scheme seems to work like this
[Series][Screen Size #][Generation #][Sub-generation #][modifier]
T 4 2 0 s
T series (Thin/Light Performance)
1 4 inch screen
2nd generation
0th subgeneration
s type (more portable)
So for X130e:
X series (Ultraportable)
1 1 inch screen
3rd generation
0th sub-generation
e type (low cost?) -

11.6" + E-450 would be awesome if priced fairy below 500 bucks for "netbook" purposes.
-
In the picture, the screen looks rather large, though. The other laptop in the top picture seems more like an "X130e." -

If X1x0e had a slightly faster CPU (into LV Intel CPU range, SL9400+) that would be great, (and I'd seriously considering getting one).
-
December 13 may as well be its release date, according to this article.
-
Does Intel even make LV chips any more? All I see are SV and ULV stuff.

Frankly, for basic office/portable use and some media playback (aided by GPU acceleration), the X120e packs plenty of power. -
If the x130e keeps the physical touchpad buttons and decent trackpad (compared to the X220), I'd be tempted to get one in the Core i3 flavor over the X220.
-
X1xxe laptops are for students and people on a shoestring budget, the X220 is still the ultimate ultraportable. -

In America the X120e isn't THAT cheap. The accidental no OS option was a reason it sold alot at first. At my workplace we had some preconfigured model with Windows 7 Professional, 4 GB RAM for like 550, funnily enough whenever we got one it, it sold that day.
-
ok... that is fairly expensive.
-
looks weird looking thinkpad in another color than black.
they should put it at least on the edge series. -
the X1x0e are edge laptops without the Edge badging.

Urgh, milspec?

Woo hoo 130% faster than a netbook...nothing on price points though as that is difference between a successful model and not so successful..
-
That looks like the Ideapad design...WHY aren't they going with the X120 design?
-
this is aimed at the Australian education sector.

That will be great. I wonder if its just like the X121e. Sounds like it could be.
-
How is the contrast on the current X120/1?
-
X121e? it is okay not brilliant.
-
Yes. What about viewing angles when on the web or viewing a video? Do you think this has improved screen vs its predecessors?
-
i haven't tested or seen the machine in person, so it is hard to give you a run down on what is what regarding the screen.
-
What about the X120/1e how is the contrast on those models?

Engadget via Netbook News
- AMD E-300/450
- Intel Core i3-2367M
-
Kind of heavy for a 11.6in notebook, but then again this is a ruggedized, which I take adds to the weight.
-
So I'd like to be clear on this. The core i version will NOT be available to regular consumers in the US?
-
So basically if we ignore all the sales BS, it's E-450 vs the older E-350 and it might also be a little heavier due to the new ruggedized design. Now if they offer it with i3 (which I doubt) it will be an amazing machine
Can't decide if I should just pull the trigger on x120e before it disappears... -
4 pounds 11.6" machine is a fail, unless its bulletproof and has real life 8h battery, like watching video 8h non stop.

Is i3-2367M that much better than E-450? Does anyone have a link to compare them side by side?
-
i3 should be better, at least cpu wise, but I think gpu wise they should be close. However, North American customer don't get the i core models.

-
Looks so fat.. I really like what's inside but the new design is so unattractive.
-
Bezel looks a bit large, but it looks nice nonetheless. They really need to bring a convertible variant of this model, like the X220t.
-
It makes sense; it was built for kids.
I'm just happy my T400 lasted through a year of high school for me.
Now if you could drop a X130e mobo into a X120e chassis... -
Rubber bumper is nice, but the loss of the bottom physical mouse buttons and the increase in footprint (mainly area above keyboard extended, from the looks of it) make it less appealing to me overall when compared to the X120e. Extra weight is also a a bit surprising, at 3.9 lbs it's really getting up there...
-
It's ThinkPad in that it's a tank.
But also cheap in that it uses plastic instead of metal. -
The X130e follows the design of the X121e which is not the prettiest laptop around.
X130e coming?
