    Hi, I just wanted some opinions on this. I just got a quote from Lenovo, plus the 20% coupon code, it brings down the price to $799.20. The relevant specs are as follows;

    Core 2 Duo P8600 (2.4GHz)
    Win7 Home Premium 64-bit
    2GB DDR3 RAM
    160GB HDD
    Bluetooth PAN
    Intel Wifi Link 5100
    6 cell battery

I know the X201 release is imminent, but I imagine there wouldn't be any coupons for it for awhile (considering it's a new release). If I go on current X200 pricing, the X201 might be $999, so, what do you guys think? Only $50 more than the U150. ;)

Seems decent but I recall x200's being in the $700 range regularly with discounting through the other lenovo portals. I think if you want to wait a bit that there will be more steep discounting (50-100 cheaper?). But of course if you want it now then go for it.

Well, I'd have to wait atleast a week while the U150 I sent back goes through the return process. I know quotes are good for 30 days, but are they still good if a coupon is used that is no longer offered? I would assume so, but I'm not sure.

I believe the quote is good even if the coupon no longer exist. But to be honest, it's not really a good deal.

Look at that for example (pretty much what you have except it doesn't have Win7 but has a higher processor). With Bing's 8% cashback, it comes down to 735$ or so and you don't have to pay tax nor wait long for the seller to ship compared to Lenovo.

Lately the X200 deals are horrible compared to before. If I were you, I would wait.

Thanks for that, but when it comes to electronics I really don't like to buy second hand. :) I have 30 days to decide if I want it or not, so no biggie. :)

    Totally understand. :)

Just to make you feel better (or probably worse), I was able to get from Lenovo:

    Core 2 Duo P8800 (2.66GHz)
    Win7 Home Premium 64-bit
    3GB DDR3 RAM
    250GB HDD 5400 RPM
    No Bluetooth
    Intel WiFi Link 5100
    9-Cell battery
    Free 2-Day Business Shipping

for around 750$ (w/o CA tax). I quoted this back in mid-January but didn't order until (unfortunately) around Chinese New Year. But good luck and hopefully a great deal will show up within those 30 days. :D

Since the linked item is brand new sealed in box, you are not buying second hand.

Even so, I'm not comfortable buying through third parties (except in the case with B&M stores). Thanks though. :)

If you're looking for value, the Outlet's where it's at.

Thanks ZaZ, but I don't like second hand, even if it's factory refurbished. :) I've just always been that way with electronics.

not all systems in the outlet are refurbished.   there are a few new systems available that were built and canceled before they shipped.   redistributed systems shipped but were never opened, technically making them new, too.

whether you buy an outlet system or not is up to you.   just don't pass a good opportunity because you think everything sold there is a refurb. ;)

Yeah, there's some great deals in the outlet right now with the SAVE20 coupon, though most of the low hanging fruit has been picked off now, but there's still some good stuff. I just picked up a X200 for $608 tax and shipped. The specs aren't the greatest:

    P8700
    2GB
    80GB
    9-cell

I couldn't turn down the price. I picked of the 60GB OCZ Agility from NewEgg last week to use in my R60, but I think I'll put it in here. I've bought a few notebooks for others from the outlet. They looked new to me. I'll probably look to out a AFFS screen in there down the road.
