Same here. In terms of battery life, couple more hours wouldn't affect for the most people since X200 already offers 9 hours on 9 cell anyway. But I guess it would be different story for the tablet model.

I will do my best to take and post photos, although due to work obligations (and laundry night), it might be tough.
I will say this: I love the form factor--about as small as can be with a fullsize keyboard. Kind of wishing I got the 6-cell instead of the 4-cell...anyone know if the 6-cell extends past the back, or does it just bulge under the bottom? -
It buldges under the bottom. It's fine for the desk, even gives you some angle, which a lot of people prefer on their keyboards, but it sucks when you use it on your lap and it budges on your left leg but not the right.

I received a confirmation e-mail:
Thank you for your purchase from Lenovo. Your order has been received and is being processed. Please visit our online order status tool to view the latest information on the status of your order:
Does this mean that it will be shipped in few days? My estimate date hasn't changed; still 9/3/08. -
What I know is that the first batch of topsellers will arrive in Canada around 8/31/08. Then another batch 9/05/08, so it doesn't seem farfetched, but it wouldn't suprise me if yours was delayed another week or so.
-
I don't NEED a ton of hours of battery life, what I need is portability. If the X200s gets 3.5+ hours or so on a 4 cell, then I will be thrilled. I can always keep a 9 cell around for travels, but the 4 cell would then be enough for my every day use.
-
Do I ignore billing/shipping address and spec on e-mail? On e-mail, it's showing my old address and spec (I changed to different specs later).
But on my order status, it's showing the right one though, but still says 'In process.' -
Well, I also just got the confirmation email for the one I ordered on Aug 05, 2008 with free 64G SSD. On confirmation email, it still lists the SSD as 44C5215 SBB 128GB SOL.ST,DRIVE,SER.ATA . But on order status, it lists as 44C5212 SBB 64GB SOL.ST,DRIVE,SER.ATA. I tried lenovo website but could not find any info about 44C5215.
Sean -
I'm wondering if I will be okay. But I see right thing on order status page though. Just not on the confirmation e-mail I received. -
How's the real-life battery life? Is the screen decent?
-
I see the 128g SSD as well. It should be fine. I think that was just generated using the VERY original information.

I just received an email saying all or part of my order has shipped, and since I have had the rest of my order for several weeks now, I believe it's safe to assume my x200 has shipped. But unfortunately I can't verify that because the order tracking page has been down all day.
What really sucks is that I am most likely going to have to wait until the long weekend is over to get it. -
My order has been shipped!
The estimated date was 9/3/08, but it shipped today (8/27/08)!
I think I should receive one by Friday or Saturday (used UPS 2 day)
Perfect time to do some tweaking and possibly clean install during Labor Day weekend! -
Good to hear strangesweet. Mine is 9/8...but I hope it ships this week.
-
I'll be going back home for the weekend, so hopefully I'll get good glimpse at it and post some pictures too

I haven't had much chance to play with it but it seems to run Vista just fine. The machine feels solid. Much more solid than the T42.
Going to (attempt to) install Ubuntu tonight. -
i'm doing some installations and updates for my X300 so far so good except sound which im doing to upgrade alsa driver in few as per some thread i've seen online -
Please post pictures anyone. Especially pictures comparing the size of the X200 to other laptops or everyday objects like a letter paper or pen or gameboy.
I would be extreeeeemely grateful and worship you for at least the rest of the day -
You guys need to post some X200 pics!
-
+1 on the pics!! Come on guys, we need pics!
-
They hear you guys. Just give them some time. Most of them have priorities over posting pictures on a forum.
-
Here are some picture of my X200... running ubuntu (from a thumb drive).
The other laptop is a HP Compaq tc4200. -
I just ordered m x200 today!! can't wait to get it!
-
Thanks KriX! The tc4200 looks smaller.
Both looks small though. -
-
Expected to receive tomorrow. It shipped today and but it's already at California. Too bad I won't be home till Friday though.
-
I would love to see one of these next to / on top of a T400. It just does not seem that much smaller with the huge bezel.
-
That huge bezel really turns me off. Maybe the X200s will take care of that.
-
I received my X200 but I won't be home till tomorrow since I'm dorming at my school for the moment. The shipping was pretty quick. Left China on the 27th 1 am and came here to Hawaii (via California) around 12 am 28th.
-
did anyone buy the ultrabase? if so.. any pics? please and thank you!
-
@ Krix:
Nice pics! How did u find the quality of the screen? In terms of colours and brightness? -
While we're waiting. Check this video out if you haven't already seen it. I enjoyed it a lot.

Noise, heat?
Thanks! -
Remember that the majority of these questions (battery life, heat, noise, screen quality, etc) are answered in NBR's original "first look" from a couple of months ago. The model they reviewed can't have changed significantly from what people are receiving now, so you should consider those first impressions as "real life usage."
Thanks for the pics, Krix! Good job. Looking forward to opening mine on Tuesday. -
I had Vaio SZ (another ultraportable 13 inch) and if you get used to it, no matter how small it is, it will work it out for you in my opinion.
I can't wait to go back home today to see my X200. -
One side note: I am impressed with the fingerprint reader. I have yet to swipe it more than once when prompted for input. First machine I have owned with a fingerprint so I don't have much to make a comparisons to.
(Although I am still not a big fan of biometrics...) -
^ so 9 cell doesn't go up to 9-10 hours?
-
I haven't let it completely discharge yet but I would think since it handle a medium load to 5 hours easily, I would assume it could go up to 8ish hours with a light load and the lowest brightness. I think 9-10 hours can be reached in a unrealistic laptop usage environment (no network connection, little program activity with a small system footprint). This was pointed out on the review:
"With the screen set to the 4th level of brightness, wireless on and the system idling for about 8 hours and being used to surf the web for about an hour the battery finally gave up at 9 hours and 53 minutes. This was no torture test on the battery, but during heavy usage with screen brightness all the way up you'll still pretty safely hit 5 hours of battery life."
I no interest in a 9 hour $1700 electronic paper weight to boost my bragging rights amongst my fellow geeks. Finally having a laptop that can handle 5hrs of heavy work without a charge is what sold me. -
Anyone ordered the X200 with a 4 cell battery and can comment on battery life ?
-
Finally got the shipping confirmation email. No tracking as of yet though.
-
Anyone planning to purchase extended warranty?
-
I will as soon as I've tried the laptop for a few days... or would it be too late then?
-
strangesweet: i ordered "2 Year EasyServ + 2 Year ThinkPad Protection for 1 Year EasyServ ThinkPad" + purchasing with Visa gives me an extra year. aka 3 years total of warranty.
claudione314: from reading around you should be able to buy warranty as long as the current one that comes with the laptop has not ended. But as a precaution, call lenovo first (asap...) to get a definite answer -
I think I should get one because of SSD. I'm thinking of purchasing 2 or 3 year depot warranty.
Well, it didn't show any options for warranty when I was making purchase. I'll call them next week. -
-
There was no such option for warranty when I purchased them on the first day of its availibility. I'm pretty sure it was not available till few weeks later since I've been checking frequently till that point.
Depot warranty covers all hardware (ex: motherboard, SSD, CPU, etc) right? -
Does VISA extend your warranty on top of extended service plans? I thought it was just to top manufacturer's warranty for a year up to four years.
Depot usually covers all but regular wear and tear, misuse/abuse, battery (some do), and software.
If you do go with a depot warranty, ask yourself if you can afford to wait at LEAST 1.5 week turnaround time if you're lucky (average is 3 weeks when you consider travel time, technicians having a queue, diagnosing time, authorization for repairs, and sometimes waiting for a part on back order) Also you are prone to scratches by some careless technicians.
I usually keep everything I have mint unless I've already accidently ruined it. If I sent my laptop in and it came back with even some minor scratches, I'd be pretty pissed. For that reason, I'd only invest in an on site service plan. -
I'm finally home and testing X200 now.
First impression: It's very small.. actually smaller than I thought. It's running 83 processors altogether, but it's running pretty fast.
X200 - Have any shipped yet?
