Does anyone have an intermittent problem with their fingerprint readers for the X200? Mine was working fine for a few days until I got a windows error notice saying that the atservice.exe (fingerprint reader service) has stopped working.

I restarted, and on logon, I noticed the reader wasn't detected. I checked the device manager and the reader wasn't on the list. A few minutes later, I heard the device input sound from Windows and immediately checked the list again and it the device was there, but disappeared soon after, repeating this same process several times (very annoying...)

    Stuff I tried to do:
    - Uninstalled all the fingerprint stuff and the driver from the device list when it appeared. It still intermittently installs and uninstalls itself from the driver list.

    - Reinstalled the drivers from Lenovo's website along with the registry fix. Again, didn't work. The fingerprint reader isn't detected and pops in and out from the driver list.

Any help would be appreciated guys. This is seriously starting to bug me.

I've had problem as well. The fingerprint reader sometimes works, sometimes doesn't (says "fingerprint reader system not available" and tells me to log in using password). I have no clue what's the cause. I haven't tried to reinstall it since it works slightly more than half of the time.

So I'm not the only one with the problem. Does your fingerprint reader appear in the device list (device manager)?

Well, after searching high and low, I couldn't figure out why the fingerprint reader suddenly gone bonkers.

For those who have this problem, it might as well be a hardware problem. Since I don't use the fingerprint reader besides during logon, I disabled it in the bios options.
