I think this *may* have been brought up already but I couldn't find it when searching.

There is an eBay seller that claims to be selling a glossy LED backlit WXGA display for the X200. The price is reasonable enough at $215 + postage. The description does not really give much info other than it is a compatible display. It would only make sense to do a panel swap if it is an upgrade in picture quality and not solely for the LED backlighting. If it is a glossy display then it cannot be the OEM panel used in the tablet (unfortunately). I'm a bit confused on how easy it would be to swap the panel anyway due to pin differences between panels, BIOS compatibility, etc.

Anyway, maybe this is a dead-end thread but I thought I'd mention it. Any thoughts?

That definitely doesn't look like an OEM part. The x200s uses a WXGA+ Matte screen, and this is a WXGA glossy. The quality may be better (it will almost certainly look more vivid), but there is no guarantee of this.

The tablet display is what you want if you can get it (it's easily worth an extra $100 or so over a non AFFS+ replacement). I had heard the Fujitsu one is also compatible (although I've heard it is glossy as well).

I don't have any experience swapping the panels myself, so you will want to try and track down Erik (he put an x61 Tablet display in an x61s) as he will know far better than me.

given that the SL9400 X200s and P8600 X200 score almost identically in PCMark05 ( source), i'd recommend buying an X200s if you need WXGA+ and an X200 if you need WXGA.   it just doesn't seem worth the effort in building an X200 with WXGA+ display if they test so closely.

installing a WXGA tablet display in an X200 would make more sense than the above, although the reality is that it would cost more than buying an X200 tablet.   this mod would require the same steps i took in building my X61sxga+ ( link) minus the custom BIOS since the WXGA microcode already exists.

unless the two displays have their LVDS connectors in the same location and use the same pinouts, a custom jumper harness would have to be made.   without comparing the whitepapers of the X200 notebook and tablet displays, i can't say definitively what needs to be done.   if you or someone else can find the whitepapers then i can let you know what needs to be done to accomplish this.

Would be cool to have the regular X200 with the display from the X200 Tablet :D
