    I recently up an X200 - and I really like it. (I'm replacing a T61).

I noticed that the power plug going in to the X200 does not seem as secure as the one going in to the T61. The easiest way for me to explain this is there is a substantial "click" when plugging in the T61 power cord to the laptop. When plugging in to the X200 - you can feel a slight bit of resistance - but nowhere near what you feel on the T61.

The X200 is charging fine - but the jack just feels a little loose (not the jack itself - but when you plug the cord in to the jack - it feels like there is a little bit more "play" than normal between the plug & jack) - has anyone else experienced this? Is it normal on the X200? If not, what'd you do about it?

    Thanks!

    -Dave

    I have a X200.

Mine is exactly the way you described.
I guess it is just how it's supposed to be. The allowed movement makes it more friendly to shock.

    Thanks for the response!

It's really wierd - I'm still scratching my head trying to figure out if it's totally normal - so if anyone else noticed this (or specifically did not notice this) - please speak up :>

    Thanks!

Mine has some wiggle when plugged in but it does exhibit a semi click when plugged in. Don't worry about it. I have had the x200 for over half a year and I don't have any major issues with anything build related.

What he said. The wiggle seems to be normal.

it wiggles because the jack is not actually soldered directly to the motherboard. it uses a loose wire instead. this is to prevent the power jack from breaking so easily. very smart design

I noticed the wiggle as well, and compared to my T60. It seems to wiggle also actually, I felt that had not noticed it because it was in the back vs the side. That said I'm very wary of this kind of thing as it was the failure point for me Dell 300m.

It's less the wiggle and more the fact that I don't feel the solid "click" like I felt with the T61. There's a very slight resistance at the end when it plugs in - it is definetely much easier to pull out.

Sounds like it's normal based on what I'm hearing from everyone else - I'l let it go for awhile longer - if it ends up really bothering me - I'll give Lenovo a shout a month or two before the end of my warranty.

That's the real issue - I'd hate for this to take a leap right after my warrenty is up. I saw someone mentioned that it's not soldered to the motherboard? (which means replacement should be easier than I thought if it gets to that point)

    Thanks!

Mine clicks, it just wiggles. My T60 doesn't click hardly. It isn't an issue if it turns on really. The click is some metal contact bending out of the way slightly. I'd not be concerned, I'm only concerned about things coming desoldered of the motherboard. I assume they had better sense than Dell on my 300m.

A bit of a wiggle here. I notice a small click, but it's less substantial than the aforementioned wiggle. Honestly though, the wiggle factor doesn't bother me much. In fact, I kinda like the wiggle as it gives my laptop some character. A little wiggle never hurt anyone, right? :)

all of my thinkpads (T43p, T60, X60t) all wiggle...some more than others. It really bothers me but doesn't seem to adversly affect anything.
