Installation is a little tricky if you want it to be absolutely perfect - even though I lined up the Thinkpad logo properly, it was still slightly off. In the second picture, you can tell that the skin isn't straight by looking at the holes where the lid latches go. Not a big deal to me, but user error is easy to achieve. The texture is nice, although I wish it was slightly less shiny. I don't have a fingerprint reader, but luckily the cutouts were included with the skin.

Fits well with the Thinkpad aesthetic, imo. ~$25 to breathe some new life in my ol' trusty X200 :p

Sweet mod, how much was the total cost? And I don't think I could live with my ThinkPad smelling like leather polish.

That is just awesome. I hope they make one for the T420s.

That's a pretty cool mod. I would only just get the LCD skin, i don't think I'd like it on the palm rest.

Very nice, I actually prefer this compared to Lenovo's effort with the ThinkPad Reserve Edition due to its subtleness.

It's looks really great on photo. How does it feel like, does it feel like leather or even PVC leather with some relief and a soft texture, or is it more a plastic sticker feel?

Does it feel like it will hold for a long time, without coming away at the edges? I saw it was available for a large range of Thinkpad and if it's as good as it's look like I will probably get one.

It is more of a plastic sticker feel. However, if it was softer it would show scratches much easier (like the original lid that it's covering). Personally, I'm willing to give up a luxury feel for a luxury look with durability.

It does feel like it will hold for a long time. The adhesive is strong, and I don't think that it will leave residue if taken off. As I mentioned, I didn't line it up perfectly, so I can actually feel the edge of the skin if I run my hand over the front lip of the laptop. Thankfully there are no signs of the edges coming away any time soon.

Only thing to watch out for is some lint gathering at the peripheries (it is a sticker, after all). But I'm really just nitpicking. Also wished I took more time to line it up perfectly. I feel like Thinkpad owners have the capacity to be more meticulous than others.

Overall, I love the skin. The laptop still looks "stock," and the leather look is understated and elegant. I'm definitely gonna buy this again for any future Thinkpads I purchase.

And yes, they do have one for the X220:

    @arsenic004

Thanks for the info. I've ordered one and going use on top; maybe not on wrist pad.

I noticed carbon fiber one's, by the same manufacturer, on eBay but decided the black leather looked better.

Youre correct to mention lint gathering. it will be a bother.

I'm curious what the texture is like, I realize you said plastic sticker like but is it hard? like hard leather lookalike cases for stuff like tablets? and does it make any sound if you tap on it?

Maybe this will make it easier to explain..

Once you stick it on, is the softness of the material a little closer to the original soft surface of the lcd back or more like the stern hardness of the original palmrest.

Yeah, I looked at the other patterns too and I also think black leather looked better.

More like the stern hardness of the original palmrest. If you tap on it, it doesn't sound any different than if the skin was off. The material is hard - there is no give, bounce, or softness to the material. Hope that answers it for you.

Lint really isn't a bother actually. It's only noticeable if you look up close under bright light. It's practically invisible in the pictures I took.

I purchased and received this "leather" skin. It is 100% plastic. It was easy to install.

I've lived with it for over a week. I do not like it. It looks and feels cheap. The edges of this skin bug me. I'm taking it off.

EDIT: I'm demanding a full refund from that eBay seller. I checked what I bought and it's supposed to be leather. I have ripped it in half to make sure that it is plastic. It is.

And yes, I bought it from the same eBay seller, chenkangwo that arsenic004 bought from...
