    Hi,

Quick question! Does the x200 ultrabase ship with a power cord? Meaning that I will end up with two if I order one with an X200?

I don't know, but my guess is 'no.'

I remember the ultrabase for X61 ships with a power adapter. I think the one for x200 should also include the power adapter to justify its $200 price tag.

It's hard to know from the descriptions on the Lenovo site. It says it uses the 90W power adapter, or the 65W that ships with the computer... ?

When I read the wording of it. I'd highly doubt it. The question is, will a 65W power adapter charge both batteries?

I ordered the ultrabase with the laptop. No additional power cord. Gotta say, I am disappointed, since $200 for the base (which doesnt even include a basic optical drive, let alone a spare power cord) is highway robbery. Basically, you're paying through the nose for a nice form-factor port replicator.

Thanks, gopherblue. I'd rather buy a Lenovo Port replicator and an extra power cord then.

I've always used a laptop with a docking station/base, since I use my laptop as a desktop replacement most of the time. Up until the x200, the only advantage a docking station gave me was ease of connectivity (mouse, keyboard, LCD, ethernet, power). For the x200, I also needed the base for the optical drive, since there is none on-board. I have yet to fully set up my system, but the ultrabase so far seems to meet my needs (despite the extortionate price).

It is easy to dock the laptop, and it locks on (and can be physically locked to the base with a provided key). When docked, there is an on/off button for powering up the laptop without having to open the laptop, if being used as a desktop replacement. Removal of the laptop is easy, there is a pull lever on the left side that undocks the laptop. Port connectivity is better than on the laptop--there are 4(?) USB ports, power, ethernet, and most importantly, DisplayPort (which is NOT on the laptop itself). Several other ports, including the mini-plug audio out. There is also a way to charge an additional battery, but since there is no provided manual, it isn't clear how to do it, and it is a bit kludgy (open flimsy plastic latch, fold out connector).

I like the dock, but the price (even with the lower priced CDRW) was outrageous. That it didn't come with an additional power cord is offensive.

ya =\ the whole power cord thing is sad, lets hope they forgot it on your system. So when i receive mine and if i do get it I'll let you know lol.

I have been looking around for a Displayport converter the past week, I wonder if the base can support duel monitors (VGA on the base + Displayport).

Thanks again for doing a quick summary for the base.

Old thread, but I can confirm, the ultrabase does NOT come with a power cord. It is really annoying, but at least the power cord is only $39 for the 65W.
