Does anyone who owns X200 have their lid corner and edge wear down? I'm a student and I usually carry my laptop in my backpack to school. Does every model of Lenovo laptops have this problem? Or just X200? Or just mine.....

    Thanks for your reply

Ya, it is normal. For thinkpads in general.

It hasn't happened to my x200 Tablet (yet), but my T40 had some serious wear on the lid corners. However, it never spread beyond the corners.

Yeah, I've seen this on many Thinkpads, including my dad's T60. Best solution is to get a relatively tight-fitting laptop sleeve if you're carrying it around in your backpack.

This has been a Thinkpad problem for years. Shame on IBM / Lenovo for not solving this. How can one believe Thinkpads are as tough as the manufacturer makes out to be when something as simple as the paint does not hold up.

Well, in the end it's nothing else than a cosmetic problem. Spotty wear is a pain to look at but it doesn't influence the function or "toughness" of the notebook.

The paint really only wears at the lid's corners and edge...the rest of the paint on my unit is fine. And it holds up to scratches quite well.
