I just got my X200 but when I play HD videos I get constant screen tearing/scrambling. Is there something that I need to adjust? I played the same videos on my very old X24 and didn't have any problem.

*I am running Vista on Max power mode.

Here is a thread from earlier regarding issues with video playback on the x200. I don't personally have much exp with it because I just watch SD videos on my laptop when I am not at home (where I watch my HD and the most of my multimedia in general on external monitors).

Interesting - I noticed a couple months back that X200's came with X4500HD. I think those are meant for desktops! Now they come with 4500MHD, or the mobile version meant for laptops. Perhaps Lenovo fixed it by switching.

    What GMA are you using?

Jonlumpkin, you should get your X200 back instead of that tablet!

That is an unfortunate problem. Interestingly, you seem to be having the opposite problem that I had with my x200. On mine HD content (720P or 1080P *.mkv) looked solid, however I had the worst trouble with moderate bitrate standard definition content (XviD, DVD, etc).

The first thing I would recommend is to play with the settings in the Intel GMA utility, and to try a few different players (VLC, Media Player Classic Home Cinema, etc). You may be able to find a setting that fixes your problems.

If that fails, I would recommend you try a Linux live CD (won't damage your Vista installation). Ubuntu 8.10 (either x86 or x64) supports the x200 very well. If the videos playback fine under Linux, then you know that your problem is software (as opposed to hardware) related.

Once you have done these tests it will be easy to provide more guidance on this issue. It would also help if you specify the video file(s) you are trying to play, what media player you are using, installed codecs, etc.

Arsenic - I am pretty sure that all of the x200 models (as well as the x200s, x200t, T400, etc) feature the GMA4500 MHD. I believe it was just a typo or simple oversight that caused it to be listed as a GMA4500HD initially. Lenovo is rather notorious for these kind of mistakes. In fact the Tabook still lists my x200 Tablet as having a Thinklight (neither it nor any of the other tablets have Thinklights due to the flat bezel).

Also I am very happy with the tablet. There are times (not many) when I would like the extra 570MHz, but the screen on the x200 Tablet is so good that it makes me quickly ignore the speed reduction from the x200, or the substantial increase in weight compared to the x200s.
