My wife has an X200 that she's had for a few years.

Recently her battery died and we purchased a replacement aftermarket battery for her notebook. The aftermarket battery looks almost exactly the same as the original, but of course there are small differences.

Anyway, the after market battery worked perfectly for about a week. However, all of a sudden, now the laptop won't boot at all: with the battery in it or with the battery removed and only the power adapter in.

The computer will turn on for about 10 seconds, no screen image at all, then just shut down. Nothing. so far, I haven't been able to make it do anything else.

So, at this point, I'm wondering if there is anything that I can do to try and find out what's wrong: it could be that the replacement battery screwed up something (though the voltages are apparently the same) or that this is just completely coincidental to us purchasing a replacement battery.

Any advice on how to even begin to pursue this would be awesome - thanks!

I would start with RAM, reseating and running with one stick to start with.
    Is the fan running?

Awesome - thanks for the tips!

I will start with the RAM and see what happens after that.
