I wasn't even aware that Lenovo had released a true Multi-Touch display. Does anyone have any data on it (panel type, manufacturer, brightness, potential grain, etc.)?

jon - it was announced a few days ago.   http://lenovoblogs.com/designmatters/?p=2491

no word on display specs.   it's more than likely going to match the current multitouch panel specs.   the only change that i'm currently aware of is in the digitizer.   and, no, digitizers aren't sold separately. ;)

these displays by themselves (when available) will run you close to $900 until they are available from component resellers (where they'll still be in the $500 range).   you'd be better off selling your system and buying a new one with the display you want.   there's no sense in spending $500+ and voiding your warranty in the process when what you want is readily available with original parts and a factory warranty.

Maybe a driver moding or something similar do anything?

I dont know but for sure i dont spend anything about 200$ to add to my thinkpad the ability to use two finger touch.

    Thanks

Its seems like "new" superbright isnt framelss.

In my humble opinion frameless design looks much better than standard one ... :p

If you think it's possible to add multitouch via software, wouldn't they just release the driver instead of introducing a whole new model? ;)
And if you aren't willing to spend at least $200, then forget about modding your tablet. The screen of tablets usually costs $200+ without including the labor. Also if you disassemble your tablet and break something, say good bye to your $1000+ tablet.

I have a question in a similar vein. I don't mean to hijack this thread, so if I should start a new one, just let me know, but here's my situation:

I have a first gen x200 tablet as well. The screen has been been a bit dodgy, and I fear that it is only going to get worse. Can anyone comment on the possibility of having it replaced with a 2nd gen screen if it does come to the point of needing to be replaced? (I have the full thinkpad protection warranty). Thanks

The frameless DOES look better though. It's also easier to write on as you can track the pen past the display without any change in surface style.

    sorry for the ridiculous question:

do you have a picture to show the differencebetween frameless andregular screen?
