While I'm waiting for more reviews of the U330. I thought I would ask what people think of the U330 vs the X200.
I'm looking for a small laptop to take with me everywhere and to use as a replacement when I need to send my main T61p in for repair.
I know the X200 and U330 are aimed at different markets, but to me they seem really similar and are around the same price range of $1000.
X200:
Smaller and lighter
Better keyboard
Better built/more durable?
U330:
More powerful graphics, hybrid graphics
LED backlight
Touchpad (recently I got used to the trackpoint and I like it, but a touchpad is still easier to use)
A little cheaper
Slimmer
I'm leaning towards the X200. I think that if it had a LED backlight I'd probably get it over the U330.
I'm also considering the S10 but it's not in the same category as these two.

U330 note... cannot customize.
X200 note... no optical drive. -
If I remember correctly, some site showed that the U330 weighed approximately 4.4 lbs.. if you're considering carrying that around you might want to look into a T400 as a replacement for your T61p. The price range is about the same as the other two, if not cheaper than the X200.
But if you're in the market for a small laptop I would pass up on the U330 and go straight for the X200.. or maybe the U110.... -
I think the U330 is a better choice than the X200, it's not that much bigger, but it's a lot more powerful. In my opinion, 13-inch is the best of both worlds, portability + decent power. -
The U330 is a fair bit cheaper at the moment, with the coupon available and it starting lower as well. Is the U330 more powerful? Thought it was a step down in power.
I voted U330, as I was faced with this exact decision. I saved almost $600 by getting the U330 instead of the X200 with the specs I needed with some nice bonuses like switchable graphics, an included dock, and a much bigger hdd (for my 2 compared spec lists). -
13 in screen are definitely not that big to carry around... That 1 in difference betwen them won't make much difference in the size department, with some gain in usability and significant gain in performance.
-
But I think the switchable graphics and HDMI make up for it, plus the U330 also comes with the ThinkPad Active Protection System. -
In weight the U330 is about 1lbs more than the X200. That seems like a lot when you are dealing with notebooks just a few lbs to begin with.
I thought the U330 was the more powerful machine. They both have around the same processor and type of RAM but the U330 has stronger graphics.
One thing I am disappointed with on the U330 is that it only has a 1280x800 screen, the same as the X200. It's weird that the U110 an 11.1" has a higher resolution than them.
I would go for the U110 except that it's closer to $2000. -
I'll go the x200 purely becoz I'm buying a notebook for work.
Therefore I dont need the xtra graphics power or the HD audio or HDMI.
If I was looking at it for personal use, I'll prob go for it.
