I just received a refurbed X200 from the Lenovo Outlet. I ordered one with the Intel 5300 with 3 antennas. There are 2 antennas on the front of the LCD, but I can't tell if the 3rd antenna was ever installed. In the space where the camera is located, there is a blank piece of plastic. I would think that this is where the antenna goes, but it is smooth plastic, where the other 2 antennas have ridges.

Can someone who has the 5300/5350 with 3 antennas take a picture of the third antenna so I can figure out what is going on with my computer? Either that our could you describe where the 3rd antenna is located and what it looks like? I am trying to figure out whether to keep the computer or not, and if they only hooked up 2 antennas, that is something that I need to consider.

    Thanks for helping!

It is possible that you might only have 2 antennas hooked up as there has been some weird stuff reported by other users, but that is hardly a reason to return the x200 in my eyes. Everyone who has the 5100 is certainly happy with it. I would only see your concern being really warranted if you had WWAN in mind.

Thanks for the reply. Does anyone know what the third antenna looks like, or have any pictures of it?

Well, are there three cables connected to the card? If so, follow the white one and you'll find the antenna.

I guess what I am asking is whether anyone can tell me what the external portion of the antenna looks like so I can figure out if my X200 even has one. I can clearly see the 2 on the top left & right of the LCD screen. They are 2 thin parallelograms with ridges. The piece in the middle is a thin trapezoid but doesn't have any ridges. Is this the external portion of the antenna, or would the antenna also have ridges?

I am hoping to figure this out without having to open up the case and trace the antenna leads. If anyone has a picture of what this middle exterior antenna looks like, that would solve my problem.

You disassembled the display but are afraid to open the rest? Huh?

The white cable (according to the manual the third antenna WLAN cable) should lead to the marked antenna:

I have not disassembled the case yet. Let me back up to make sure we are on the same page. Take a look at the attached picture - I have circled what I believe are 2 of the external antennas. My X200 does not have a camera but has a blank piece of plastic or metal (with no ridges) where the camera would otherwise be located. Is this where the 3rd antenna hooks up to?

I have heard reports that users with a camera are not having their 3rd antenna hooked up. I am simply trying to figure out if this blank space (on my computer, which is different from the attached picture) is the third antenna, or whether a 3rd antenna would have ridges like the other two antenna spaces (as you can see from the attached picture). Thanks!

Sorry, no idea. I got the picture from the service videos at http://www.lenovoservicetraining.com/ but it looks different than the one in the service manual. I guess the only way to be sure is to open the case (you can find a video on the linked site) - don't know if you can find it out via software.
