    Hi,

Anybody using X200 with T9400 having heat or battery issue ?

If running it with screen brightness 40%, wifi on, just work - some office doc & surfing, will you still get about 8 to 9 hours on a 9-cell battery ?

    Regards,

    Jon Lau

Just curious, do you think you need the T9400 for Office and Internet?

    I'm getting a good price for it - better than a P8600...that why i'm asking :)

If i'm doing any intensive cpu work, i will plug-in to the AC.

I don't want it to end up with less than 8 hours on a 9-cell battery while on the move ( with some surfing and light work ).

    Regards,

    Jon Lau

I know there is at least one person on these forums with an x200 and T9400 CPU; however, I forget his name off hand.

To be fair, with screen at 40% and Wi-Fi on, 8 hours is asking a lot even with a P8600 processor (should be attainable, but not guaranteed).

On battery, both the T9400 and P8600 should both downclock to 800MHz.

I doubt the T9400 will cause the machine to overheat, but it may run a little louder (fan will spin more to cool it down). Battery life will also be slightly reduced due to higher power draw. However, if you undervolt the T9400 you may be able to minimize these problems and cause it to behave more like a P8600 from an energy perspective.

I saw the review on T400 with T9600 using 9-cell on integrated graphcis with 50% brightness & wifi gets around 9 to 10 hours...so i'm est. that i will last around 8 hours for a T9400 with 40% brightness :)

How to "undervolt" it ? By running application like RightMark CPU Utility ?

    Regards,

    Jon Lau

True, but the T400 has a LED screen, which uses less power. The screen is always the biggest juice sucker on a notebook, much more than the CPU.

Hmm..i guess the X200 may never last more than 7 hours on a 9-cell with T9400.
