I have no problem using my x200 alone. But at home I plug in the ultrabase to have convenient access to external monitor, keyboard, storage, etc. It seems that the ultrabase blocks the ventilation partly (from the bottom side of x200), and the fan keeps running and making annoying noise all the time.
according to TPFANCONTROL, the temperature without ultrabase ranges from 36 to 40 degrees, but when i plug in the ultrabase, the temperature never drops below 50 degrees. (celsius)
I already ordered a x201s, hopefully the new system will be cooler. Since the ultrabase is almost as thick as a notebook cooler pad, why don't they put a fan inside the ultrabase to improve the ventilation?
anyone has the same problem?

tpfancontrol is not accurate. Use hwmonitor.
Yes, it obviously blocks the ventilation on the bottom as you mentioned. This means more heat for the battery as well. You can force your fan on more if you have it docked. I haven't had any issues from this though. I have been using my docking station for a year+ with no real adverse consequence. Perhaps battery life is less compared to a non docked system?
