has anyone else encountered this problem? Every time you start vista "Q:\FactoryRecovery\cdrivebackup.wim" will show up in resource monitor and pound the hard drive at 100% for at least 5-10 minutes. Then it disappears and everything is nice and quiet! What is causing this? Does anyone know how to stop it? When I first searched I thought it was the windows search indexing. That has already been turned off. Q drive "index for faster searching" has been turned off as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Create the backup disc and it will ask you if want to delete the partition. GO ahead and get rid of it but keep the DVD in a safe place. You will solve your problem and have over 10Gb of more space to use.

superman you really are superman! Every problem I've had so far you answered for me. My x200 is running great, thanks man. One last question that is related. I also have a "Windows\system32\config\RegBack\software" that is causing 100% hd load, would you happen to know what that is? After 5 minutes it also finishes and drops down the list, then the HD is silent once again.
-I now have 1 C drive that is 72GB free. Do you know of a program that can partition it into two drives? I remember reading the name on this forum but I can't remember what to type in the search box. I don't want to reinstall vista at any cost, that's why. Or is it not possible?
