    Hi Everyone,

I just got my X200s from E-bay and was very disappointed to find the screen isn't the WXGA+ as advertised. It can only do 1280x800 and not 1440x900.

It was also advertised as being LED backlit. Does anyone know how I can check this?...

Other than that, it's an awesome machine.

    Thanks in advance,
    Matt.

Hmmm well I'm going to wager that it's a CCFL. Typically if it's an LED, it's going to mention it very clearly as it's a large selling feature.

How bright does the screen look to you? If it feels like it could be brighter, chances are it's a CCFL.

Looks like the seller falsely advertised some of the features. I would ask for a $200 refund.

hmm weird. i believe the U.S. doesn't offer the 1280 x 800 but it does offer in europe i think? i'd definitely ask for some sort of refund or a full refund since it sounds like you got something you didn't want.

I don't believe the x200(s) was ever offered with a WXGA LED (except for the Tablet display). The US x200s should have a WXGA+ LED, the international model should have a WXGA CCFL.

In addition, if you have a webcam (or a space to accept one) then you have the CCFL model as the LED display is too thin to accomate the webcam or WWAN.

I would probably contact the eBay seller and see what you can work out (you should be able to get what was advertised, even on eBay).

All of this points out the need to do your homework on eBay. Ask questions and don't assume things because unless it explicitly states one way or the other, it's open to interpretation. I think your best option is to contact the seller. Hopefully they'll be accommodating. If not, you can explore your other options.

It does have Webcam so it's not LED either.

Unfortunately I bought this machine in the UK on E-Bay and had my brother bring it over to Thailand where I live. Sending it back isn't really an option.

I've just written to the seller asking them what they're going to do regarding this mistake. A 200$ refund sounds good!

    Thanks for the advice.

The fact that you got it from the UK is your problem. Europe only got the CCFL equipped x200s. If you wanted the WXGA+ LED version of the x200s you should have tried importing it from the USA.

This seems to be a rather common misconception around here, which I would like to prove wrong! WXGA+ LED displays are available for X200s in Europe as well. You may check for instance the range of models available in Germany.
