So my X200s came with a UK style keyboard which is subtly different than the US version. If I were to change it to the latter, is it just a straight swap?

    TIA

Assuming the US keyboard is designed for the X200s then yes it would be a straight swap. Part number you are looking for are either 42T3737 or 42T3671.

Thanks. What's the difference between 42T3737 and 42T3671?

Btw is it true that UK keyboards are generally made by NMB but the US ones are Chicony?

Both 42T3671 and 42T3737 use the same US keyboard layout, the only difference is who manufactured the keyboards and the type of membrane they use. I believe 42T3671 is manufactured by NMB while the other is made by Chicony. It is said that Chicony keyboards are more noisy and clicky hence why some prefer the NMB keyboards instead. I used both keyboards on my T61 and found little issues with it, to be honest I actually enjoy typing on both but of course if you're really picky then I guess choosing the NMB would be a safe choice.

And no it isn't true that the UK only gets NMB keyboards, we do have Chicony and Alps keyboards depending on the ThinkPad model. The same goes to US keyboards too, it's the luck of the draw really.
