Well I, for one, am delighted with the 1440x900 option. There had been rumors for quite some time but I was pretty sure I would be disapointed.

My Fujitsu T75 (10.6", 1280x768, about 140 DPI too) is dying on me right now and I wanted to replace it with something a bit larger - if it could bring more screen real estate. I travel a lot, and the X200s form factor, durability, options and battery life make it the perfect laptop (for me, of course).

The X200s is going to be my first Thinkpad, I can't wait!

On a side note, does anyone know if the 90W slim adapters that Lenovo sells will work with the X200s? A small/thin power brick would make it even better in my eyes.

Also, X200 owners : when selecting the 'XP downgrade' option, does the laptop come with XP installed or will I have to use a restore disc or whatever? I don't have an external DVD player.

Wait, I don't understand. Why would somebody order an X300/X301 when the X200s:
    - is cheaper
    - is lighter
    - has more battery life
    - has a faster processor
    - has a dock
    - has media card slots
    - now has equivalent screen resolution

Also when will this laptop be listed? I might need to cancel my x301 order...

Because the X301 is thinner, which is some kind of magic spell that affects all of us.

How thick or thin will the X200s be?

Thinner than the X200 or only lighter?

Hopefully the LED-option won't be too expensive... :(

About 4mm thinner (likely in the back).

In fact, I'm wondering how the X200 can be thinner with the same display & backlight as I don't think the body is actual 4mm thinner.
Therefore I presume sadly that just the LED-backlight version is thinner.

    Hong Kong Baptist University:
    X200: 295mm x 210mm x 20.7-32.6mm
    X200s: 295mm x 210mm x 20.7-28.7mm

    Anything about fan-noise yet?

Should it be louder than the X200?
I mean it's only an ULV-CPU but it's although thinner than the X200...

And the X200 is pretty quiet as far as I know.

The question is, where the X200s is thinner than the X200, which cannot be answered yet.

If the body is 4mm thinner, this could be an issue, but I doubt that it will.

The X200s uses a LV (not ULV) cpu with 17W TDP (thermal design power) opposed to the X200 with a 25W TDP cpu. So, theoretical less than 70% heat of a X200.

If just the display (case) is thinner, the X200s should be even more quiet than the X200.

more than likely, the x200s will not have the battery bulge like the x200 does. this was the same between the x61s and the x61.

Other than the x301 being thinner, It seems that the x200s wont have the 128GB SSD option, just the 64GB. Or am I missing something?

When I played with the X200s I could notice (but I won't cross my fingers since I haven't touched an ordinary X200 yet) or recall from pictures of the X200, that the X200s is considerably thinner at the backend. This is due to the smaller cooling system needed because of the low voltage CPU. So it's about 4 mm thinner with the standard CCFL screen. LED might be just an extra tad thinner.

The slim adapter should work, but i'd check with lenovo when the x200s comes out. I'm not sure about the xp thing

I don't know, I think 1440x900 is pretty small... The extra real estate sounds great, but my pervious laptop was UXGA. I really liked it at first, but over time, it started to become annoying for things to be so small. The SXGA (1400x1050, 124DPI) on my 14" t43 has been perfect for me, though, which is almost exactly the same as the WXGA on the x200 (125DPI).

From a lenovo.com search, some X200s model numbers:
    ThinkPad X200s: 2046, 2047, 7462, 7465, 7466, 7469, 7470

I just spoke with a guy from Lenovo.com by chat about the height of 6 cell model and he confirm me it's 28 mm thinner, cause I thought it has the same size as 9 cell model, and that is 35 mm.
But no, he told me it's 28 mm height, the same like 4 cell model.
Now, I don't know how right that guy had, but assume he has to be an expert.

If some person from here can tell me how can I buy a X200s model in or from Europe...you'll make me extremely happy.
    Thanks!

The X200s uses the same accessories as the X200 right?

As I once told already, on the official Lenovo's website appeared a Announcement Letter which I am trying to attach it here, don't know if works.
    http://www-01.ibm.com/common/ssi/cgi-bin/ssialias?infotype=AN&subtype=CA&htmlfid=897/ENUS108-615&appname=USN

as you can see, here you can read about detailed specs of X200s model.
please, if anyone knows the availability date of this ultraportable in Europe I would be vary happy ...since I know it will be just non-LED model here.
I am worried about high DPI value, around 140...which will annoy me enough not to purchase it from US.

Could you point me to at least one shop in Germany that lists the X200s with price?

All the specs of the listed models are totally weird.
None of those Thinkpads has a WXGA+ screen, all have the X200-Standard-WXGA incl. Webcam, nearby all have WWAN and all have the Low-Voltage CPUs, but also the SL9300.

Lenovo doesn't know anything about a X200s with WXGA instead of WXGA+ nor with WWAN, nor with Webcam, nor with the SL9300 CPU.
But the also don't know about a standard X200 with low-voltage CPUs.

As some X200 models are described with tablet, it might be that the weird mix is also a result of mixing X200s, X200 and X200t, what at least would explain the SL9400 in a Thinkpad with WXGA-display.

    These specs aren't totally weird.
The X200s are just named X200.

Geizhals lists 5 models with WXGA+ screen.

Lenovo does know a lot about X200s models with WXGA, just take a look at the tabook or German Lenovo page. WWAN and Webcam availability seems to depend on the screen (different form-factor and antenna).

    Recapitulation: Your post is unfounded.

    My post unfounded?
    Let's do some research:
Searching Geizhals for WXGA+: Some monitors, a HP notebook, no thinkpad: http://geizhals.at/deutschland/?fs=WXGA+&x=0&y=0&in=
Searching Geizhals for 1440x900: Some monitors, no notebook: http://geizhals.at/deutschland/?fs=1440x900&x=0&y=0&in=
Searching Geizhals for "Thinkpad X200 SL9400": 31 results, after chosing 1440x900 manually 5 results (ok, my fault here, didn't look at the second level): http://geizhals.at/deutschland/?cat=nb12;asuch=Thinkpad+X200+SL9400&xf=9_1440x900
Looking in the tabook ( http://www5.pc.ibm.com/us/me.nsf/webdocs-L/Personal+Systems+Reference:ThinkPad+Notebooks:English/$FILE/tabook.pdf ) for a X200s with NO WXGA+: no result, only WXGA+ listed.
Looking on the German Lenovo page: No X200s listed, lightest notebook starting at 1,34 kg (what is a X300), where it should be 1,1x kg for an X200s.

There is a button "other models" just below the listings at the Lenovo page.
    Voila X200s.
