I am trying to upgrade my Thinkpad X200s with a bluetooth module and I bought one off ebay. I installed it and found out it isn't working. No automatic driver search, nothing in BIOS, and no new device in the device manager.
The description said that it was an 42T0969 and that it is for X200, X200s and T400. But when receiving it, the sticker on the module said that it is a 39T0497. And after a little reseach I saw that this is meant for a T60. And checking again with the ebay advertisement, I noticed that the pic of the item has also FRU 39T0497! I am in contact now with the seller. And of course he wants me to take it out, send pictures and all and then of course come to the conclusion that he actually send the correct item, because that's in the picture.
But going through all of this and opening up my bezel and a big chance of breaking anything I would like to know if the 39T0497 could work. I read somewhere that usually Thinkpads do accept newer bluetooth modules, but not older ones. But I can't recollect the source anymore.

Please download and save the X200s Hardware Maintenance Manual PDF from Lenovo Support if you have not already done so. I actually made it easy by linking it for you
On page 178 of the X200s HMM note that the FRU (field replaceable unit) identifier is the same as what the seller you bought from advertises. I typed in FRU 39T0497 in ebay search, compared, and noticed that the BT module (FRU 39T0497) looks remarkable similar to the one assigned for the X200s (PN 42T0969). In my experience with ThinkPads I have found that some hardware components are interchangeable between different models of ThinkPads e.g. the keyboard for the T60 works on the T500 as well as the T400. I would suspect that the two modules could be interchangeable. Try booting back into BIOS and clicking on Security>> I/O Port Access >> then Enable Bluetooth. I once could not figure out why my BT was not working and found that what was preventing any functionality or recognition of the BT module had been because the Security settings had been disabled.
If that does not work then you might want to contact the seller for the proper BT module. Good luck! -
You turned Bluetooth on FN + F5?

If the card were "seen" but not whitelisted, it would throw the "1803" error.
My guess would be that the laptop and the card are not communicating at all, for whatever reason.
