    Evening everyone.

Long time MacBook Pro user who has lost patience with Apple not updating their MacBook Pro's, therefore have decided to buy either X201 or X201s.

Before doing so have a couple of questions to ask with regards to the specs on the Lenovo UK site

QUESTION 1 - What is the difference between the options below, in terms of 3x3/2x2 UltraConnect II antenna?

12.1" WXGA LED Panel, 3x3 UltraConnect II antenna
12.1" WXGA LED Panel, 3x3 UltraConnect II antenna; Wireless Broadband Upgradeable
12.1" WXGA LED Panel, 2x2 UltraConnect II antenna; with Camera and Wireless Broadband Upgradeable

QUESTION 2 - What is the real world difference between the options below, in terms of 1x2/2x2/3x3 bgn & AGN respectively?

    ThinkPad bgn Wireless
    Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000 (1x2 bgn)
    Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6200 (2x2 AGN)
    Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 (3x3 AGN)

Thank you to all who reply and educate this Lenovo Newbie ;)

The 6300 has 3 antennas, which theoretically gives you the best wireless performance in terms of picking up networks and such. The 3x3 for the screens refers to the same thing (the antennas are wired up next to the screen).

I would recommend getting the 2x2 or 3x3 solution if you are in areas with low signal or you just don't mind spending the money on it.

Hello Rabka, I was in exactly the same boat as you, got bored of waiting for the Mac Pros and knew they would be a lot more expensive than the Lenovos anyway, so bought an X201 last week, should be delivered on Friday to the UK.

I went for the 2x2 with WWAN option, my router only supports up to 300mbps anyway, it's quite rare that I do such huge file transfers over wireless, if i need to load the laptop with data, an ethernet cable into the gigabit port is a lot easier :)

on the website for X201, you can only configure it for <12.1" WXGA LED Panel, 2x2 UltraConnect II antenna; with Camera and Wireless Broadband Upgradeable>, as such is there any point in choosing an Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 (3x3 AGN)? If the antenna is only 2x2, does a 3x3 wireless card makes it faster than 2x2?
