I have a T410 and a x201 in front of me right now. I don't notice a huge difference between the two, other then the size. Not sure how a T400s would compare. Never owned one.

i got a X200 and T400s, the screen quality is better on the T400s in terms of contrast and viewing angle.

Wow the T400s has better screen contrast and viewing angles. That's saying a lot the x200 screen must be terrible.

Well, it is only slightly better, so it is not saying much.

I find the X200 okay for work, but the screen is the limiting factor for multimedia orientated tasks. Hence, this is why the AFFS mod is so popular for the X200.

I didn't think the Samsung LCD I got on my X200 was all that bad compared to what else is out there. Lenovo however does use multiple suppliers. Some are better than others. I'd suggest if you're considering a X201 and want a good screen, I'd suggest getting a tablet or the X200/X201 and doing the AFFS mod. While the screen on the T400s might be a bit better, it's not in the same league as the others.

i never thinkpad T400s before. my X201 screen is good for me (1280*800). however, some people like to buy 1440*900 resolution for x200/x201 i'm not sure about large resolution of x201 forgot!! in real, T400s is 14 inc. screen that make sense it is more prefect than 12 inc. screen. but i like to take x201 out to everywhere because it is so small and battery can be for long time also. :D
