I'm a lil paranoid when it comes to security, so I lock everything I can down with passwords, notebook HDD is no exception. The fingerprint reader comes with X201 is so seamlessly implemented it makes my fingers less hurt.
So, onto the main topic, I set Master and User password for my X25-M and when I close down the lid to put the machine into sleep, it sleeps fine. But when I open the lid, the fan comes alive but the sleep icon (that moon-shaped LED) still lit. I can't do anything to wake the machine up.
I close down the lid again, still the same, the fan still blow and the computer still sleep, BUT, it became hot, or rather, as warm as it still running, fortunately I discovered this problem before put the thing into my bag, that would make it a little portable heater and might damage the circuit, I don't know.
Open again, still the same... now this sucks, I have to force shutdown the thing by holding the power button and get into the BIOS to see what's wrong. Tracing back to when it work as intended, mechanical HDD with or without password set, works, SSD without password, works, SSD with password set, breaks.
So I unset the password and test again, things are working now. And I'm going to try setting the User password only for the HDD to see if it's working.
Anyone notice this problem before? Any fix or workaround?

Can you check your firmware version on your SSD? This issue was supposed to have been fixed in the latest release, available from Intel here:
