having a tough time deciding between the 2.

    wxga vs wxga+
    wan vs no wan
slightly faster cpu on the x201
slighly more power hungry on the x201
magnesium vs cfrp, gfrp and mag

Any guidance would be appreciated. Was the gap greater between the 2 last iteration as it seems now there is very little between the 2 models.

wouldn't say it's only "slightly" faster cpu on x201. and x201s doesn't have webcam if that is important to you.

Pretty much the same difference as last time. The x201s has WXGA+, uses less power, and is about 400g lighter. The X201 is slightly faster, offers WWAN, and is a bit cheaper. It all comes down to what you prefer (I'd go with the 's' or tablet personally).

They are both expensive in Australia so price isnt an issue. Is the cpu cooling larger on the x201? Looking at the specs and various pics it is hard for me to tell.I cant abide a noisy machine. Reports say it runs quiet and presumable the x201s with its more frugal (power wise) processor would be quieter still.

If you're looking for value, the X200/X201 is probably were it resides. Typcial notebook usage doesn't need a Core i CPU. If you're in the US you might want to hit the outlet.

If you do not need WXGA+ resolution, increased portability (lighter), or even better battery life, then the X201 is probably the better option for you. Those factors are pretty much the only reasons for going for the X201s over the X201.

Personally, though, (if I had the money :p) I would go for the X201s, because I love higher resolution screens and a longer battery lifetime.

I noticed the X200s could be optioned with WAN. The X201s cannot. The screen however states 3x3 WWAN. Does this mean I could pick up the part later on and drop it in? The chassis between the X200s and X201s has not been changed so does anyone know why the WAN option was dropped? Approval time require perhaps?

Dammit. I want WWAN and i want WXGA+. The rest I am happy to compromise with. I guess if forced to choose I would take screen res over WWAN.
