Hello everybody. I placed an order for a X201 last Dec. 12 and guess what?? The laptop was on a UPS truck for delivery on Dec. 20 and it was never delivered. The package was lost by UPS. Lucky me!

On Dec. 21 Lenovo issued a replacement order and it was not processed until Jan. 3!

The laptop still has not shipped and the ETA kept being pushed back. It now states Jan. 28!

Needless to say I just spoke with Lenovo and they said that the laptop would actually be shipped tomorrow Jan. 14. However, the sales rep mentioned that it would ship out of Taiwan instead of Shanghai. I personally don't care where it is shipped out of. What seemed odd though is that the rep was very apologetic for saying that it was shipping out of Taiwan and not China. So I asked if they also had a manufacturing plant in Taiwan and she said no....Taiwan is just a warehouse. But since we want to process your replacement order ASAP we are sending it via Taiwan to speed up the process. !?!?

How can shipping thru Taiwan speed up the process if they can just ship it from China directly?

Out of curiosity I started googling a bit and could not find any thread with a X201 shipping out of Taiwan. All threads pointed to Shanghai, CN.

I just thought I'd post my experience here to see if anyone can comment on it.

    Thanks!

    JP

Maybe they have some warehouse with read-to-ship laptops in Taiwan for troubled customers/extreme cases like yours?
Perhaps shipping from Taiwan's warehouse will take less time than build new laptop in Chinese factory and get it shipped to you?
    I have no idea :D
Im still waiting for my T410 to be delivered and I dont even know whether it has been shipped or not :D
My replacement order was supposedly placed on December 22nd :D

I understand there were Christmas and New Year holidays in between and so, but if I dont get my laptop on monday, which would seem final date of delivery given mentioned holidays that might have interrupted normal Lenovo office and factory operations, I will get really pissed, because Im off to vacation after that and wouldnt want my laptop to sit in courriers office for that period, if it gets delivered while Im away :D

Lenovo only manufactures in China so rest assured the quality won't be any different. Maybe Taiwan is a distribution point to certain regions that don't ship directly from the factory?

Actually, my first order shipped out of Shanghai. I am in Miami, Florida, USA.
    I guess I am concerned with getting a returned/refursbished/demo unit! :)
