It's not really open to the public, but yeah it's down at Irvine Spectrum right near the 5. We moved into this building at the end of last year; we had a building over near Von Karman and Main (right across the 405 from John Wayne airport.)

Apparently there was some confusion about what I meant when I said "knock it off". Additional messages were removed, and if this continues, there will be consequences for the combatants. If you absolutely have to continue this argument, comp.sys.laptops is thataway ->

Hmm, seems the mods have been cleaning up. Probably for the best, although a few of the quotes now look out of place :)

    To sum this up:

The i3 is not a repackaged Core 2 Duo platform any more than an i5 or i7 would be. The i-series does share some architectural components of course, but they're not the same. Nobody from Intel has said otherwise, to be sure.

The i3 does indeed have an IGP (named Intel GMA 4500 HD) included directly into the processor packaging. It's quite visible to the naked eye if you ever pull one out, it looks similar to the old Pentium-D setups where there are two silicon rectangles on the same package. Only this time, one silicon rectangle is bigger than the other.

I think that's pretty much covered that portion of the questioning.

That doesn't mean Intel's IGP on the core series of processors is anything spectacular; I believe they're far from. Here's hoping AMD's Fusion brings a bit more pain to the table. I'd love to see AMD get back into the game bigtime, as it helps pricing for all of us.

Edit: Hmm, posted this at the same time as Jane. I think this is pretty fair information, and I mentioned no names. If this isn't allowed, please remove it and forgive me. I'll keep out of this thread from here forward.

YES! Screens on Lenovo x201 and x301's are really "that bad".

Pathetic is a more suitable word.

They chose to use lower quality lower priced displays instead of giving their customers a decent viewing experience. Instead these screens are bad enough to cause eye strain.

REALLY frustrating, my company would order Lenovo's if it wasn't for that fact.

Apple displays are second to none, so Apple gets our business.

I didn't think the Samsung display I got in my X200 was all that bad. It helps if you calibrate the screen. None of Lenovo's main competitors, which Apple is probably not one of, are really offering anything markedly better. I don't know if you've seen the DreamColor 2 displays on the HP EliteBooks, but they're better than Apple's LCDs as are the X201t and the Fujitsu T900.
