Just got my x201 few days ago

    540M
    4G
    Intel 6200

picked up the SSD from frys

    biso on ahci

did 4k alignment before the installation

but i still not able to run the SSD @ calmed speed which is 285/275

so im wondering am i missing anything? or are there any other setting i should be aware of?

or is just the chipset ?

Have you tried other benchmarks for confirmation? Try to benchmark it in CrystalDiskMark and see what results you get.

Are you running in low power mode? I'm having problems with my X25-M. It runs pretty good at full power, but when dropping it into low power, it takes a big performance hit.

In my case it is not AC dependent, but it's the power level of the CPU that seems to determine the performance level of the CPU.

Yes, it is definitely woth installing SSD in notebook. Even if you don´t reach full speeds (because of power saving features - see other threads in Hardware forum), the speed increase compared to classic NTB HDD is dramatic.
