Also, will models with hard drive ONLY come with EE2.0? If not, does anyone know if Lenovo will be offering a driver package that will allow you to install EE2.0 after you upgrade to your own SSD solution?

Other than EE 2.0 everything should work though? I really don't care about EE 2.0 since I rarely shut my computer all the way down and the ~2 secs it takes to wake up is fine with me.

I just spoke to a chat rep. The rep told me that EE 2.0 is pre-installed on ALL Sandy Bridge lenovo computers, whether or not you get the SSD.

So does this mean the C300 can be converted to a 7mm drive if one is willing to void the warranty?

Nipped the above post from 'drives compatible with the x220' thread. Looks promising.

I've been meaning to ask about this - I have tried using search several times and it draws blanks for me. For example if I just search for X220 - it comes up with only two threads. If I limit the X220 search to thread titles only, it returns zero threads. I don't have anything extraneous checked - just a basic search. Not that you're a moderator but I wanted to mention this to see if anybody else has this issue and if so, just to make mods aware I guess.

Search function here doesn't work at all. Too bad because vbulletin search works very well in every other forum I post on.

When I had the x120e (no OS option), there was no such thing as driver download or application package to get the EE2.0. EE only ships with your pre-installed OS, and your recovery image.

So although I would like to use my own clean windows 7, I'll probably just use the image that comes with it.

In another news, intel leaks SSD roadmap. I'm keeping my eye on the 'Paint Creek' mSATA SSD expected to release in 4th quarter 2011. Unfortunately it only comes in 40gb/80gb size. Maybe the prices will be cheaper, who knows.

Honestly, the easiest way is to just use google. I don't know what's wrong with the search here, but you're absolutely right in that it doesn't work

sorry to react to an old post, but I'm interested in an x220 and I am curious to what your setup is.
if I understand correctly you have a big sata disk installed _and_ an ssd in the mSATA card slot?
how? which ssd? A setup with a fast ssd to boot and work off and a big sata disk for data sounds ideal to me but I'd like to hear the exact details.

    thanks, tinus
