    Hi
I've done some research on thinkpad's bios whitelist but still have no clue if an Intel 6205 card from Alienware M11x laptop will work on X220 without bios hacking. Anyone had any experience?
    Thank you.

Thinkpad's only take Wifi cards with an FRU number on it. Chances are this won't work, but flashing a non-whitelisted BIOS is pretty easy. Only downside is you can't upgrade BIOS all the time, because you have to wait for someone to hack it first.

Ok. Thank you. Btw, just curious, anyway to change FRU on that 6205 to match x220's whitelist?

You can't change the FRU. If you want to use the card, you'll need to hack the BIOS. If you want to use a 6205 card, you'll need to get one with a FRU. It'd probably run about $40 on eBay.

Ya as it's been stated, just buy a Lenovo branded WLAN card. They are nearly the same price as normal WLAN cards.
