Hey guys,
just found out that there's a new bios out there.
Lenovo Support - BIOS Update Bootable CD for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), XP - ThinkPad
Is this only for UEFI Systems? Anyone already got it? Fan problem gone?
Is is better to update via the bootable CD and also possible to do it with a usb stick?
Changes:
Version 1.15-1.06
UEFI: 1.15 / ECP: 1.06
(New) Update Computrace module to version 80.895.
(Fix) Fixed issues where to change some security related settings by WMI script.
(Fix) Fixed an issue where Linux installed HDD may not boot when the partition is not set active.
(Fix) Fixed an issue where system with large memory might fail to resume normal operation from standby state.
(Fix) Fixed an issue where AC adaptor might be not detected.

I installed it via the Windows environment (Win7, 64-bit). I'm in UEFI mode only. Isn't our systems UEFI and BIOS is just emulated, assuming you have that turned on? I don't recall how that works.
I have to shutdown and check if my Wifi/bluetooth/battery/Sleep icon gets lit back up after I shut down.
Wifi isn't supposed to be on when you shut down/hibernate right? Assuming you don't have Instant Resume enabled?
PS The fixes I'm referring to was in 1.12, which I never recall seeing. It was probably internal only and 1.15 was public.
Shutting down now, I'll post back. It takes a minute for the icons to come back on -
Seems to have fixed the issues I was concerned with.
No issues so far.
X220T i7 here.
One more thing, this is also an ECP update, so it will flash that on start up/reboot. Might want to make sure you keep AC power on -
I don't think I'm using a UEFI install, did a clean install of windows 7 64bit without any modifications.
Do you think that I can also do this update with a normal BIOS? Also without the CD but with the .exe bios update utility?
I'm not having any issues except of the constantly running fan. Did this update change anything regarding the fan speed? -
You should always update a BIOS with AC plugged in, no matter what. I don't know about Lenovo, but Dell's BIOS updates won't fully execute unless you plug your laptop in.
Lenovo updated all Sandy-Bridge ThinkPad X, W, and T series laptop BIOS codes in the past 48 hours. The fix list is the same across the board. -
Doesn't sound like they did a fix especially for the x220 fan speed. :/

^Im so tired of this "X220 Fan Speed issue"
1. The X220 is a Ultra Portable laptop its a small package that contains a lot of punch. Its going to generate heat, if you dont like fan noise get a ULV laptop without a fan.
2. Factory thermal paste application for almost every brand is deplorable, if it bothers people that much reapply thermal paste and hope for better temperatures a 1-4 Celsius impact is a large impact on a notebook and can be obtained with replacing the poor application and low grade thermal paste with better application and quality thermal paste.
3. TPFanControl was specifically designed for this issue, its a third party software that can alter the factory fan control settings, use it if the noise bothers people that much and hope you don't burn anything up.
4. Not all fixes are always "listed" in a bios revision history, sometimes things are "adjusted" like fan speed and left out of the notes, its not a frequent practice but i've seen this before especially with HP laptops.
Just my .2 cents -
I completely understand your point. Nevertheless I hope that Lenovo adjusts it a bit, if it works. If not, that's also no big problem for me, cause I love this machine
So please tell me if you realize that Lenovo changed the fan speed a bit. Thanks -

If you goto Lenovo Support - Drivers and software - ThinkPad X220, X220 Tablet, X220i, X220i Tablet
You'll see that 1.11 is listed, but if you click on the links, 1.15 is presented.
Just updated using the windows utility. Install went flawless... I'll let everyone know if there's been any changes regarding the now infamous "fan speed issue", and the 90watt adapter issue. -
There were also new 6205 wireless, power manager, and wireless display drivers released today. None of them fixed my issues however.
I also still get the obligatory switch to 50Hz refresh rate when unplugging from the AC adapter. One thing I haven't seen in a day or so though is the random hibernation problem I was experiencing. -

Hey,
I am using X220 tablet and after Bios 1.15 update, I cant access the bluetooth anymore. It cant find the device at all.
Can I install the old bios back? I need the bluetooth.
Thanks. -

I would try to reinstall the driver, maybe this will help..
I also updated to the newer version, but no problems here...Fan speed issue is still here.. -
If that doesn't solve the problem, you can reinstall an older BIOS version. Click on the appropriate BIOS update (Windows or Bootable CD) and scroll to near the bottom of the page to see links to older BIOS versions.

oops, now I found out that they pulled version Bluetooth 1700 because it is wiping the harddrive after installation.
