I just got my X220 from buy.com but I'm not sure if it has the IPS screen. The buy.com webpage doesnt really mention it in either way. I tried searching the forum but my search results came up with nothing each time. I also googled the Manf. part # of 42872VU and couldn't find the info. The link to the product is below.

    Buy.com - Lenovo ThinkPad X220 42872VU 12.5" LED Notebook - Core i5 i5-2410M 2.3GHz - Black - 1366 x 768 WXGA Display - 4 GB RAM - 320 GB HDD - Intel GMA HD 3000 - Bluetooth - Webcam - Finger Print Reader - Windows 7 Professional - 9.20 Hour Battery

Does anyone know the hardware ID number that appears when you check under device manager? My device description is "Thinkpad Display 1366x768" and the hardware ID is LEN40E0.

Also, I installed the Intel 310 SSD by removing the spacer. I used scotch tape to keep the drive together since the original screws are too long. I see no reason why the tape won't work (especially since it's wrapped in the rubber side piece and inside the computer) but I'd like to hear your thoughts if you think otherwise.

    Thanks!

4287-2VU is in the tabook, no IPS:

    Personal Systems Reference (PSREF) sheets

    12.5" (317.5mm) HD (1366x768) TFT color, anti-glare, LED backlight, 200 nits, 16:9 aspect ratio, 300:1 contrast ratio

If you see an IPS next to most other TN laptops its pretty obvious which is which.

Win7 sees my IPS panel as "Wide viewing angle & High density Flexview Display 1366x768"

Device ID is LEN40E2 though I have a tablet, and its not a PCI device or similar so I wouldn't reply on self reporting too much.

As for the actual FRU, I can only find links to HMMs for x220T and x200/201, x220 is hiding from google?

Thank you for the info. I knew something like that book existed but didn't know where to find it. I must say that the non-IPS screen is still pretty good so I'm looking forward to getting a new X220.
