Had my x220 for a few weeks, noticed that whenever I flip from dark to bright background, e.g. opening a browser with a blank page from a black background desktop, it takes a few seconds before the screen reaches full brightness and contrast. The process is long enough and apparently enough for me to notice it often, particularly in low ambient light with screen full brightness.

I have never seen something like this on TN screens before, nor on any desktop monitors, so I am just curious whether it's something prevalent with this IPS screen, or something wrong with my copy.

    Thanks :)

Try disable Intel DPST in Power management in Intel GMA options in Control panel, if it is enabled.

I dont have that as an option it brings up this intel control panel, where there is a power tab, but nothing other the max performance, max battery life settings.
