I got my X220 today and I am having the following issues. After hunting through various threads I didn't necessarily find the answers:

Scrolling with Trackpad - trackpad doesn't always recognize when I would like to scroll. Sometimes it just moves the cursor up and down. This is annoying because I will have the cursor nicely over a webpage that I am scrolling and then the cursor gets moved, the page no longer scrolls and the cursor has to be recentered on the page.

I have updated the driver from the Lenovo website, I have maxed out the sensitivity on the settings, increased the scrolling region.

Also, during scrolling, I am having strange results. I either scroll slowly or it jumps to the end of the page. Adjusting the scroll speeds does change the scrolling speed but it jumps to the end pretty easily.

While I am writing about this, my pointer (the red nipple) has very jerky, jagged operation. It hobbles across the screen.

I much prefer the TrackPoint (red erasure) over the TouchPad or TrackPad. You should try it for a few days.

Regarding jerkiness, I see this when both the TrackPoint and TouchPad are enabled. Try disabling one of them in your mouse settings tab. See if this helps with jerkiness.

People have solved the trackpad issues by installing drivers from Synnaptics directly.

Synaptics drivers solved all my problems. I rolled back the drivers to the PS2 drivers and then installed the latest Synaptics package. Great!
