Will the X220 cry about an Intel 6250 if it wasn't pulled from a Thinkpad?

The part number is the same:
    622ANXHMW

Just it doesn't have Lenovo's FRU on the back:
    60Y3195

There is a $25 difference and if it won't cry about whitelist, I don't have to spend $40 on the Lenovo FRU version.

Yes, it will cry and fail to POST with an OEM Intel card. But there are de-whitelisted BIOSes available for the X220 if you don't mind a risky BIOS flash (I run one myself for an atheros card).

What AG is referring to is a hacked BIOS, not a Lenovo BIOS. It removes the whitelist among other things.

There is a dewhitelisted 1.28 version that someone confirmed as working. You should be able to find it through google. That BIOS requires a patched version of the flashing utility and is Windows only. It will not work with DOS flashing methods. :-/

Also, I forgot to mention that diagnostic boot does not play nice, so make sure to disable that before you flash any custom BIOS!

Thank you. I was able to run a 6250 from a Toshiba with camilo's 1.28 whitelist removed BIOS.
