So I only have my X220 and my Dell 23" monitor now...I have to plug and unplug the monitor cable a couple of times a day to use the bigger display.

I am consider using the widi capability. any suggestion or recommendation? like which widi adapter to buy.

    thanks

    Hi Fallcolor!

If the monitor is right next to the laptop, you're better off spending the money on a ThinkPad Dock. You just plug power and monitor cable in to the dock then put your X220 in the dock. I have two and move between them constantly.

If you want to throw your screen to a monitor or TV the other side of the room without cables, WiDi is appropriate. It's more suited to video and presentation than daily work. It can be laggy, and picky to set up. I use a Netgear PTV2000.

    Hope this helps!

WiDi is very laggy and not suitable for regular usage. Playing a video works quite well but the mouse lag is enough to drive anyone insane.

In my personal opinion, yes. I have a WiDi adapter sitting on my desk at work, bought it to consider installing them in all of our conference rooms but it was just... horrid.
