So I just got my X220 with the 2520M, 2GB memory (to be upgraded later), and the 250gb 5400 rpm drive (also to be upgraded later). I wanted something that would deal with Photoshop fairly well and the specs for the 2520 seemed ideal for power and battery life. However, after running the Retouch Artists Photoshop benchmark on CS5, it seems way off. I am getting around 75 seconds, which is as fast as an old a$$ Macbook Air with a 1.4ghz C2D processor. I have it set on maximum power and I know I have to upgrade the memory, but this just doesn't seem right. My WEI was ~4.5 which is limited by memory and hard drive. Any thoughts?

I don't know what the retouch artists benchmark entails, but wouldnt the lack of RAM and the lack of a SSD hurt the benchmark alot?

the SSD shouldn't b/c you can change the settings in photoshop so it depends more on CPU (history settings). The lack of RAM I feel shouldn't make it THAT much worse. I think the benchmark I saw was an old MBA with 2GB ram and a 1.4GHz C2D

that looks about right. how accurate is that benchmark tool? i also wouldn't just rely on one benchmarking tool.

I'm not sure how accurate...I would expect it to be somewhat decent though. Anandtech uses it regularly and it is pretty reproducible on all of my systems.

18 seconds on my X220. That thing is damn fast, my current desktop does this test in over a minute.
