Hi everyone,
I installed a mSATA SSD last night along with the stock 2.5" 320GB hdd on my X220i (4286-2AU). I did a clean install of Windows 7 on mSATA, which will be my OS drive.
I've installed most of the device drivers but notice that though most of the function keys (FN + ...) work (the WIFI FN + 5 even doesn't work), there no longer is an on screen display. I did play around with this prior to clean install so I know that with the factory settings, OSD was working fine. I check the display properties in Windows and on screen display is ticked off.
Also, in power manager, I no longer have the option to set the minimum and maximum battery charge start and stop thresholds.
For the Power management driver, I only installed
Power Manager for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), Vista (32-bit, 64-bit) - ThinkPad
and left of two other drivers:
- ThinkPad Power Management driver for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), Vista (32-bit, 64-bit), XP (32-bit, 64-bit) - ThinkPad
- ThinkPad Power Manager Patch module for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), Vista (32-bit, 64-bit), XP - ThinkPad
I've also already installed which I thought should have take care of OSD but I guess I was wrong:
Hotkey Features Integration for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), Vista (32-bit, 64-bit), XP (32-bit, 64-bit) and 2000 - ThinkPad
but decided to skip:
ThinkVantage Access Connections for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - Notebooks
Would appreciate any help on this matter. It's not a killer but the OSD and battery thresholds were something I was looking forward to after the clean install.
Thank you!!!

For the OSD to work properly ensure you use in conjunction with Lenovo's graphics drivers and not the generic drivers from the vendor, this should restore functionality of the display brightness OSD. You'll also need the ThinkPad PM Driver for the Power Manager to work properly, there should be an exclaimation mark in the Device Manager to confirm this missing driver.

This is the driver you'll want to install: Hotkey Features Integration for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), Vista (32-bit, 64-bit), XP (32-bit, 64-bit) and 2000 - ThinkPad
If you install that along with the display drivers it should work after a restart. -
Thank you for taking time to respond Hearst. Yes, after having picked and downloaded what I though were the essential files and drivers, there was one left with the exclamation mark.
I didn't do any Windows Update prior to Lenovo driver installations. Someone on the Lenovo forum suggested I install Software Manager 4.01 and though it picked up what my laptop still missed, it wouldn't auto-install so I had to download them manually and install them.
I got both the battery threshold and OSD to work and I'm one happy camper now. Didn't realize that Thinkpad's are sweet in that if the charge threshold isn't reached when in AC power mode, it doesn't force the AC adapter to charge the battery.
Thanks again for your help.
Thanks Iron Eagle. Got both to work but had to download the Power Manager and Communications Utilitiy driver first. Had to check in Software Manager which drivers were recommended for installation and those were the two that I had forgot/neglected to install.
Anyone know how to give reps to individuals on this forum? -
Underneath their avatar there's a white scales icon which is the rep button for this forum.
X220 clean install. Now, no OSD and battery charge threshold
